So, i really don't know what's happening.
I did a college in Vancouver the last year. At the end of the college i found a job and they sponsored me with the PNP Tech Pilot.

I was accepted for the PNP Tech pilot and i received the letter.
So i sent a request to extend my working visa with the PNP letter attached. But today they replied and apparently the application was refused.

Now, on the letter they said it's because my college (it's the classic private college) and i knew i couldn't request an extension with that, normally.
But i have the PNP now and on the letter seems like they don't even consider it.

I mean, why? I thought with the PNP a work permit was practically automatic.

So what that means? I have to apply again? And in the meantime the last permit is expired, so now technically i should't even work?
All this with the PNP letter?

What work permit? A PGWP? You cannot extend a PGWP. What status have you been on?

A provincial nomination is for PR so that is automatic if you apply with one. Have you applied for PR?

Yes i know that i can't extend a PGWP.
And yes, in the meantime i applied for the PR with the PNP but my PGWP expired the last month and for sure i'll not receive the PR in the next days.

So how can i work with a pnp if the pr will arrive in the future and now my PGWP is expire? I thought it was obvious that with a pnp they have to give you the time to receive the pr.

No, you should have applied for a bridging work permit. Do you have a TRV and have you been working after the expiry of your PGWP? At this point you may want to consult a lawyer. My best guess is you could apply to restore your status as a worker.

Yes i'm still working but i sent the request for the extension before the visa expired so technically i was in implied status right? (until today at least).

So the problem was that i couldn't ask for the extension of the PGWP with a PNP but i can ask for a bridging work permit?

Yes that's right. Unfortunately you'll need to stop working now.

Yes, you want a bridging work permit, although the two issues you may face are:
  1. To be eligible for a bridging work permit, you need to hold a valid work permit at the time of the application, and right now you do not have one. You need to stop working and look into applying for a restoration of status.
  2. Your work after your PGWP expired may not be covered by implied status, as you applied for something (a PGWP extension) you were never eligible for. For this I would again suggest consulting a lawyer if you can, and certainly writing a letter of explanation with your restoration/bridging work permit applications apologizing for the misunderstanding and how it was an honest mistake that you filed the wrong application.

You have to apply for closed work permit along with pnp letter of support. Your employer have to pay compliance fees through online portal which is $230 . Then you have to apply closed work permit and attach that payment receipt with work permit application along with restoration fees plus documents. It’s easy process. Pnp letter itself doesn’t extend wp. If you need any help let me know.

Wouldn't the employer need an LMIA?

Nope. Bc pnp work Permit support letter over come the LMIA and is LMIA exempt. But employer have to pay compliance fees and have to attach that fees with wp application.
Hi
Thanks a lot for all that valuable info.
After the company pays the fee they will get a number that we are supposed to mention in the application. Where can we add that number?
Thanks again buddy!

I’m not sure about that but you have to attach receipt with your online application. I think when you put job offer information while submitting online application for work permit it ask you there . Try to see on online cic account.

I already did that but I attached everything on the application for the extension. Apparently my only mistake was thinking that the extension or a new application were the same thing.
Only now I'm realizing that a PGWP is practically an open work permit so an extension means extend an open work permit (and if someone is sponsoring you is technically not possubile). But in the end is a technicality.....

Now my only question is....
Like I said my employer has already paid the compliance fee, so if a ask for the closed work permit now how much time they'll need? because if now I can't legally work I hope there's a way to resolve this fast.

If employer paid fees you can apply right away along with restoration application. Stop working now . Processing time for wp is 180 days

180 days?
I can't stop working for 180 days, it's crazy.

I understand the problem with the wrong application but they can't really think that a person with a PNP for a specific company can stop working for that company for 6 months. it means losing that job and the PNP practically.
I can't believe that there's not a faster way for people in this situation.
