Hey Guys,
I had to ask this question which I am not sure
I will be eligible to apply citizenship in December 2020.
If I meet criteria to apply for citizenship and then move out of the country, will it be processed? or I have to be in the country always until process is completed?
Let me know.

Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the Physical Presence Calculator eligibility period (2015-09-20 to 2020-09-20), application date (2020-09-20) and the date I sign and send the application package.

Should I sign my application package on September 20th or 21st? And/Or change the dates in my physical calculator?
As the application says - Remember to make sure that you are eligible to apply for citizenship on the day BEFORE you sign this application

According to the information you provided, you meet the requirement to be physically present in Canada for at least:
  • 1,095 days in the five (5) years immediately before the date of your application.
Your eligibility period is 2015-09-20 to 2020-09-20, you will need this for your application form.

Both days are fine as you are well above 1095 days.

Yes you can as per the link below.

If you need to leave Canada and want to stay eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must:

  • make sure that you live in Canada long enough to keep your Permanent Resident (PR) status
  • be a permanent resident (when you apply)
  • not lose PR status before you take the Oath of Citizenship
  • bring your PR card with you when you leave Canada so you can return easily

It now seems to take a couple of months to reflect AOR due to the delays and backlog.

You can add your case dates and update it using the link below if you would like

Hi everyone,
I sent my application with my two children last month, In the minor's application section 4 it is asked:
A) The person applying is the Parent or Guardian - I checked 'Parent'
B) Is the child minor legally adopted ? No - Yes

I left subsection B) unanswered as my child is not adopted and I am a biological parent and thought this subsection is for guardians or for those who have adopted.
On page 3 they ask for all the details of both parents and also whether the minor's parents are biological or adoptive parent, for which I checked 'biological' for both parents and also attached copy of their birth certificates.
Please advise will they return our applications as 'B' was left unanswered ?
If yes, what should I do now ?
Thank you.

They will most definitely return your application. You can send new application and attach LOE highlighting reason to submit new application and it will be accepted provided its complete.

Thanks for your suggestion, my case is a bit complex as I sent my app with my minor a few weeks before his 18th birthday and filled out minor application form and also included original police certificates in the package. Now I if I redo it, I have to fill out the adult form and also arrange new PC's. feeling frustrated... Do I have a chance as I made it clear on the next page that I am the biological parent not adoptive on the next page ? Is there any thing else I can do like calling, web form etc. ? or just leave it there hoping they will accept it ?

You can wait to see if they accept it. If they return it then still the issue comes for police certificate.

There is nothing you can do at this time as you do not have any file number and nothing you write or discuss with ircc on call/email will help till you get AOR.

I have a question regarding Police Certificate,
My parents are going to apply for Citizenship and were in back home country for about 8 months March - October 2018.
They got police certificate two weeks before they left back home and returned to Canada and did not leave Canada after October 2018.
are these certificate valid because they did not left Canada after that date.

As stated in the application

The police certificate must either have been issued:
  • After the last time you were in that country or territory; or
  • No more than 6 months before the date you sign your citizenship application

Thanks for this thorough informative thread!

Does anybody know if it is a problem if the address on the celpip certificate is different than the current address?
