Hi,

I'm applying SP for my 10 year old. We got AIP around Aug 20th and current in stage 2 review without further update.
Now the school offer two options with a deadline on Sep 8th: 1) Defer study to Fall 2021 and 2) Withdraw the application with refund.

To us either option is actually fine, but I'm wondering what are the consequences can be at IRCC? I understand I will inform IRCC either way.
If we defer, will IRCC still issue an updated SP for 2021 to 2022 or they simply withdraw our application and we might have to submit a new application for 2021? Any chance they would refuse the current application per our decisions above?

I submitted application withdraw both at school and IRCC. The school is processing the refund with a few hundred dollars administration fee.
IRCC acknowledged 3 days after I submitted the withdraw, saying that the withdraw processing was forwarded to another office who is handling the SP application.
They mentioned the SP application fee is not guaranteed to be refundable, but I guess it really doesn't matter that much.

My overall timeline:
1. April 30th SP application submission for my 10-years-old.
2. Aug 13th medical exam
3. Aug 17th receive AIP
4. Aug 24th got school notice regarding defer or refund, deadline Sep 8th.
5. Sep 7th withdraw application at school.
6. Sep 12th withdraw at IRCC via webform
7. Sep 15th got IRCC withdraw acknowledge

The school doesn't have online classes. Given that we hadn't acquired the SP by early Sep, the school offer two options, defer or withdraw. I don't think we have other options.
So deferment didn't served the purpose till next fall 2021??
