I'm in the same boat as most of the people here regarding biometrics(CEC inland, full application submitted in may 2nd, received the BIL but can't give my fingerprints due to office closures). This waiting sucks, but nothing else pisses me off more than having valid biometrics I had to give in January in support of a WP extension. Knowing it is valid for ten years not being used for the PR is frustrating at least. I submitted a web form recently asking if it could be used but IRCC said they just can't do anything. Then the long wait continues...good luck for us all.
I sent a webform asking the same question. The answer was very generic too. They just dont want to use the WP biometrics. it is very frustrating indeed.

any latest updates Peeps
Nothing. Everyone seems to be getting the same generic response from IRCC and as far as I have seen there has been no update to do, well, anything at all right now. Just to sit tight and go to get biometrics done when the offices reopen.

hey guys, drop a line to the PM office seeking help to fix this biometrics issue if you can. I've done this and a few more others too.

Hi guys,

Please search for "CANADA: Permanent Residency Applicants Need to be Exempt from Biometrics NOW!" in CHANGE WEB SITE and join to let them hear us.

What's to lose?

Hey Guys,

Does nobody on this forum know anybody working for IRCC or Service Canada? I mean they can ask them when to expect the biometrics services to resume?

If we did know people working for IRCC or Service Canada:

1: We wouldn’t be on here speculating as to when biometrics collection will resume
2: They wouldn’t tell us anyway due to NDAs

If Service Canada is not ready to open, IRCC should empower the police to do the biometrics. There are many police stations everywhere and they're kind of not busy

The Privacy Act regulates to what extent federal entities can collect, use, disclose and retain personal information. The RCMP (and all of the country's police forces) are subject to the act, meaning they can only collect personal information that relates directly to their mandate as Canada's national police force.

Collection of biometrics as a service provider to the IRCC falls well outside of that mandate, as it is not a policing issue, and rather an immigration issue.

They are testing our patience on and on. Its the 7th month without being able to give biometrics.

A sensible compromise would be to take pre-existing biometrics on file taken for work permits. This would clear up a huge backlog.

It's also just downright silly to make some inland applicants do RCMP checks as they do confirm a match to earlier biometrics, only to be delayed over another round of biometrics.
