Hello everyone,

I'm in process of applying for citizenship and I have a questions about personal identification to be submitted for kids (minors.

on Canada.ca website and I quote:
Examples of identification you can use include:

  • a copy of the biographical page of your passport/travel document (as requested above and also can be one (1) of your pieces of personal identification)
  • driver’s licence
  • health insurance card
  • senior citizen identification card
  • age of majority card
  • foreign identity documents, such as a passport or government issued identification documents
My questions are:
  1. Will they accept an expired passport as an Identification
  2. Health insurance card has no picture, will they accept it as another piece of identification?
Thanks in advance for your reply

1. Expired passport is acceptable
2. As per the document checklist, the personal identification document must have your name, photo and date of birth on it.
You can use the photocopy of the passport for personal identification.

Yes both expired passport and Health insurance card will work.

I will be careful with these thread. If you read them you will notice passport in this case are for question 14 ( yes it does not need to be valid for Q14 on the form) none of them was used as an ID in these thread. the OP wants to use a passport as an ID in this case I believe you cannot use an expired passport as an ID just as you cannot use an expired DL as an ID. But this is just my opinion and with all the delays we are having I will not take the chance. We need a valid ID ( passport, DL .....) for identification purpose.

Thanks for your reply. I will see what other identification I could use
