Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if there is anybody here in kind of similar situation.

I applied for PR through EE program in November 2019 - after 18 months of living and working in Canada.
I am still here, still working. My wife the same. We are expecting our firstborn in late October this year.
Our current visas are expiring in March 2021, and this means we will need to leave Canada and probably never come back if we don't hear from immigration before then.

As far as I know, the only thing left on my application is the medicals (this is going for a while already - I think they determined that back in April and there was no movement on the file since then). Medicals expired a couple of moths after I applied for PR and I was left hanging.

I was hoping someone can answer a couple of my questions below
1. Could you tell me if there are any signs that we are going to hear from IRCC this year?
2. Is there anything I can do to extend my stay in Canada (bridging permit, etc.)?
3. Does having a baby that will be Canadian Citizen change anything in our situation?

Thanks for all the help in advance.
Take care.

I think you can apply bridge work permit to extend your stay. Also, i just wonder could u go ahead and take the medical exams and send it through weform. I am not sure u could do this or not but just an idea to think about :)[

Perfect, thank you @NewDestination and @EscoBlades.
Do you know if having a baby who is a Canadian change anything in our situation?
As for re-doing the medicals on my own - I was told not to do so by the MP Officer (from whom I am getting updates on my application from time to time). She said that this could be counterproductive as IRCC is following protocols and steps and this kind of change/additional information could be just confusing to them. I did read on this forum that someone did the medicals on his own and his application was approved after a month... Not 100% sure what to do with that.
Thanks again for your help Guys.
Kind regards.

One of my kid is Canadian. No medical required for her but u need to notify the baby via webform and also submit the documents to prove the baby's status (passport, birth certificate or papers from the hospital...).

Sounds good, thank you @NewDestination.
Am I okay to notify IRCC about the baby through a webform AFTER the baby is born? Or should I let them know now that we are expecting??
Thank you.

You've got quite a while until your work visa expires, but yes within the 4 month mark you should apply for the bridging visa extension, surely your PR would be approved by then! I applied for my bridging visa about a month before my work visa expired. Been waiting for my PR for 12 months now, still hoping for the best!
I wouldn't renew your medicals until they ask you to do that. They might extend your expired medicals eventually, or they might want something more specific out of your next medical, but you won't know until they request that from you.
Regarding your new baby, congrats in advance! As far as I know, having a Canadian baby doesn't change the fact that both parents must maintain legal status in Canada, if you and your wife's visas are set to expire you must either extend your visa, change to a visitors visa or leave the country (obviously with your baby, who will still hold Canadian Citizenship)

Hi @Meggg,
thank you for your message, this is very helpful.
Yes, I was almost certain we would hear from IRCC by now (10 months after receiving AOR) but still nothing. I am hopeful but also preparing for huge delays on IRCC part. I think I will apply for the bridging permit in two months as you suggested and then see how this goes.
I am curious about your application - you are still waiting for the PR, right? And it's been exactly a year now? I am assuming you are an inland applicant on a bridging work permit now? Have you heard anything from IRCC? Is your application approved? For me, it is supposedly the medicals that are holding everything up because they expired in March 2020 (5 months after receiving AOR).
Thanks again and take care.

Yes it's been a year now since AOR, my GCMS notes say it was approved in March, so it only took 6 months technically, but i'm still waiting for finalization and CoPR. My profile hasn't been touched since March. I'm inland on implied status, no idea how long bridging visas are even taking to be processed but i don't have mine yet.

Thanks @Meggg, that's interesting.
How long ago have you applied for the bridging permit? You can't travel outside of Canada on your implied status, is that right?
Thank you.

Congratulations in advance!! Also would like to add is that as your wife is expecting right now, I wouldn't go for medicals(proactively) right now as they would put X-Ray on hold for your wife. 95% chances are they will extend your existing medicals but you never know.

Better wait to hear back from IRCC.

I applied 6 weeks ago. You can leave Canada if you want to in implied status but you will struggle to get back in so it's generally avoided. You can get leave approval for special circumstances like family emergencies but i hope i won't have to do that
