List of people who know about relationship

Regarding a list of people who know about relationship, my lawyer asked me to give as many names as I can.
I have a lot of names in mind, however, only a few knows their names are in my list, as I am not sure if I want to let everybody know about me applying. Anyone actually has any experiences that their family member/friends on their list were called or interviewed by immigration about your relationship to testify etc.?

Nope, nobody in ours. I think it’s just to show that you’re not hiding the relationship because it’s fake and to show that you’re serious because you’ve met families and such. My husband has a strained relationship with his dad, so I didn’t meet him for like 3 years and they didn’t question it or ask anything even then.

If it makes you feel better, our lawyer told us that there are extremely strict privacy laws, and unless those individuals specifically provide their contact information, the officers would not be allowed to search them up and reach out to them. So you can give a list of names of everyone aware of your relationship (as well as how these people know you) and not be worried that they'll get a surprise call from the IRCC.

If you decide to submit letters from family/friends as proof of your genuine relationship, in those cases where letters are written, our lawyer told us that the IRCC officer may contact them to verify that they in fact wrote/signed off on those letters (through whatever contact information the letter writers provide), but would not ask anything outside of what was written in the letter.

That certainly helps!!! My list of people who knows only has names/relationship to us/date we met. But there are a few letters written with their names/address/email/phone numbers with their signatures on them.
