Hey guys!

I just tried to book my medical appointment and they asked for my UCI number. I have a UCI number from my previous IEC work permit applications and also from my previous PR application (which I withdrew 2 years ago).

They told me they have no records for me on file and that I should find out if my UCI number is still valid. But I can't get through to anyone at CIC in Australia or Canada.

Do they delete old UCI numbers? How long are they valid for if you don't use them? Should I ask the medical place to create a new UCI for me?

Thanks,

Gary

Your UCI stays the same.

However, the Panel Physician does NOT need a UCI for your medical, nor can they create one for you. Tell them this is an upfront medical for spousal sponsorship and a UCI is not required.

They said on the phone that to do a medical for me they need to either have my UCI or if I'm doing things upfront, they will create one for me, as they will submit it online.

They don't create a UCI, on the printoff you are given at the end of your medical, it will have a number on it (from memory an IME number) that will allow CIC to find your medical in the emedical database. You include the printoff in your application.

I believe this is the correct answer. My husband had 3 upfront medicals in different countries, and had the same UCI since 2006. They never asked for his UCI. The medical form has its own number on it. Either that or they give some sort of temporary UCI until it's matched up with the person in their system.

If they made up a UCI that would defeat the purpose of having a UCI.

You can just give them the UCI from your IEC. That should be the one you have permanently. You don't want them making up UCI's to possibly confuse the system.

So, strangely they said I don't have a UCI number nor can CIC confirm this. But they did book me in and give me a UMI number.

This is all they'll need then right?

I'm pretty sure my UCI is still valid.

Yes, UMI was the acronym I was trying to remember. UCI's have nothing to do with it.
Thanks! Strange that BUPA are so obsessed with having my UCI number then. Odd.

Often you will see on here the doctors office requesting UCI's because they are used to doing medicals that have been requested by CIC, so part through way an application compared to up front medicals.

I have used the same UCI # for express enrtry application that’s on my PGWP But just noticed my my profile for express entry now has a different UCI. My application is already submitted and under progress. Can you advise why the difference in UCIs?

UCI number is not always the same. I read everywhere that it is the same but I saw it in my profile too, my study visa and express entry UCI are different.

the impression it remains the same, not sure if I entered old UCI or the new one but hope it won’t make a difference
