I really want to see for how long they'll keep their borders closed & say that international students should not come in because our online studies are "non-essential".

If this happens even in December this year, & they say that we have to study from home for the January term too, preventing us from entering, then that should result in a HUGE drop in international student applicants to their country.

Then they'll probably realise that keeping borders closed permanently & preventing students from coming in, will actually affect them too, just like how it's affecting us now.

So true man! The least one can expect from them is some empathy & understanding towards people like us who are already going through so many other stressful issues during a pandemic. We are also humans - it's not just their citizens who deserve proper treatment & not just their own people who are going through difficult times now. There are other humans too outside their country.

We aren't asking for their charity. It's a purely professional thing & respect that they refuse to give us after fulfilling all their demands, fees, documents & what not.

Plus they are not being fair & just also. Randomly allowing some people in & randomly denying entry to some others at the border - whereas both sets of people have approval before March 18th & both sets have fully online classes for the fall.

exactly they are only encouraging more and more students to apply with that they should also increase their working capacity or atleast be honest and stop more application until the decision is provided for pending one. Next two days will be weekend and they will resume from 24 August barely 1week is left

Disappointing. I did not expect this from them. Their track record has actually been great till now. Methodical, fair & just. But now, their handling of international students who have not yet entered Canada ( but have applied / already obtained a full approval ) during this pandemic has been disastrous.

I have a full approval before Madch 18th but still not allowed to travel & enter because my online classes are supposed to be "non-essential". Of course, our careers, efforts, struggles, sacrifices & lives are indeed non-essential for them. We are not fortunate & privileged enough to be born in their country you see. So that makes us undeserving of fair & just rules, empathy, & to be treated like other humans there.

Canada has ruined it's reputation as a premier hub for international students.

The students are only choosing Canada as a result of dearth of options but if they had a choice, they would have taken it today.

They only had to keep visa processing open as an 'essential' service and continued to process it throughout the lockdown. Instead, they fell asleep at the wheel and woke up when it was too late.

This was not expected from a country like Canada.

Bit dramatic, wouldn’t you say ?
Then choose another country if you so many countries are clamouring for your attendance
