First of all the purpose of citizenship test. according CIC memo, use the test to determine if you have adequate knowledge of Canada and the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship period ! the people who are talking about citizenship exam cheating please stop demonstrated your ignorance then instead to do 20 citizenship test which backward system, CIC needs to modernized and adapt the agency to 21st century . on my point of view the best solution cic need to start discover canada online class 8 to 16 hours ,one instructor 30-50 student with webcam ,it doesn't matter we are pandemic period or not ,the goal is to have adequate knowledge of Canada

An in-person test is the only way to demonstrate that the applicant has obtained adequate knowledge. Taking an online class does not mean that the applicant would actually learn anything from it. Having a webcam fixated on the applicant does not prove that the applicant is actually paying attention to the instructor; what is to stop the applicant from playing computer games or watching cat videos instead on a separate window or monitor?

Well just as you write exams before you receive academic certs, you also need to demonstrate your understanding of Canada by passing a test. This is just but a small price to pay for getting such a prestigious citizenship otherwise, it would no longer be prestigious. See!

By answering 16/20 questions prestigious come on, If you don’t have an idea how online course is working please stop miss leading the forum, ok forget online courses make amazing video tell them how Canada is that all. a person when decided to apply citizenship more than enough be prestigious than 20 simple gotcha question.

Hopefully, they are close to getting an online test. Even if they just do something like require an hour class with questions at the end would work if they are concerned with making sure people aren’t cheating. Maybe drop the age requirement of who has the take the test by 5-10 years so at least the backlog won’t be so bad.

I read few of your post, based on your posts cic should be giving citizenship on bus stops. Mental health?????? Many people do not have this, because they READ INSTRUCTION GUIDE prior to applying. It clearly says about wait time. If you do not like to wait, why did you apply?

Based on your logic, should english test be vaived as well?

People do not apreciate what they have and how relatively easy it is to get citizenship ( compare to USA).

Be patient, we all gonna be fine. Instead of complaining start to appreciate.

Thanks for setting them straight ...we waited 3yrs and now want the process watered down for every Tom, dick & Harry to get citizenship

You sound as if you are having a bad time in Canada and don’t think Canada is prestigious ...so why are you applying for citizenship? Go and wait till it’s being handed out by mere looking at people before applying. For now, stop whining so others can wait patiently!

There are local elections coming up which have not been cancelled - for e.g. in Saskatchewan. The delay in processing applications does deny people the the chance to participate in the democratic process. Not that this is what everyone is going for, but some certainly were. While tests may be hard to conduct online, interviews can certainly be done online. There are certainly ways to do tests safely as well, even if at a lower capacity.

A 20 question test doesnt make Canadian citizenship prestigious. Most people get their citizenship without a test (through birth, descent, etc). Your logic is flawed.

Contact your MP with suggestions. Expressing yourself is your fundamental right.

Oh yeah, the covid havoc - I think if indoor bars can open, I am sure IRCC employees can have the files delivered to them at home and work on them from home. I havent missed a single day's work through this. At least I am complaining because my citizenship is delayed, you are complaining about other people complaining - which is the next level of petty.

So you would be happy for your personal/ confidential information to be pushed out to an employees home where it could be seen or even shared with anyone who happens to be located or visits said home or worst case mislaid. That’s a pretty big responsibility to place on a government employee, sure maybe workable for any online work but paper submissions that might be a whole different thing. Plus of course would assume an employee has a dedicated home office space and not just kitchen table to stack up a pile of confidential papers.
