I am planning to submit citizenship application for myself and my wife together.
I have few questions. If someone can help me, I will really appreciate that.

  1. Can I submit both of our application documents in the single courier? I am planning to arrange our individual documents in the separate plastic transparent holders and then putting both the holders in the same courier?
  2. Can I pay the application fees for both of us or we need to pay separately?
  3. For the photos, I am planning to put the photos in our individual folders and not sticking in any forms? Is that correct?
  4. What is this "Residence outside Canada form (CIT 0177)"? We are both applying from Canada, so is this applicable for us?

1. The citizenship application form (CIT 0002 (06-2019)E) states "If you are applying with your family, include all applications in one envelope" in the last page under the section "Next Steps"
2. Pay the fees together.
3. Don’t staple, glue or otherwise attach the photo directly to the application.
4. CIT 0177 is used to count time spent outside Canada toward the physical presence requirement for citizenship if you:
  • were a permanent resident employed in or with the:
    • Canadian Armed Forces
    • federal public administration
    • public service of a province or territory
  • lived outside Canada with your Canadian spouse or common-law partner or permanent resident spouse, common-law partner, or parent who was employed in or with the:
    • Canadian Armed Forces
    • federal public administration
    • public service of a province or territory
Refer to the instruction guide if you have further doubts.

All the best with your application.
