Hi Everyone!

Could someone please advise on the following. If a person is in Canada on an SX-1 visa, studying in English as a Second language course without a study permit. Could they continue to work online for their employer outside Canada with a workload of 40 hours per week?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you, iglu.

You mentioned "you don't have to inform everything to anyone and everyone". Does this mean that it is illegal?

Ignore that aspect of what iglu said because it's just wrong. If a form asks you about your employment history, you will be required to disclose it.

Provided that you are not working for a Canadian company or a company that provides services in Canada, you can continue to work remotely for a foreign company while on a study permit in Canada, as remote work is not considered work in Canada. This doesn't always apply for companies that provide services in Canada, so you do need to be certain your company does no business with Canada.

Thank you for the reply, k.h.p. !

Is there any limitation in the number of hours if a person works remotely/online for a foreign employer? An employer doesn't have either office or branches in Canada. The person doesn't even have a study permit, came as an ESL student.

no it is not illegal. online work is not considered as work history basically that period of yours is getting filled with the english course you are doing. what visa do u hold?
Online work for a Canadian employer would be considered work, and would be illegal on a visitor status.

Thank you guys for your help, I really appreciate it!

What source did you consult? I mean law, reference etc.
