Please help!!

I have recently completed my studies this month. My application for study permit extension is in process that I applied in February 2020.
My Study permit expired on March 31, 2020.

While on implied status, I finished my studies this month and my application for study permit extension is still in process.

I want to apply for Post-graduation work permit.

Is there any way I can apply for PGWP before receiving the decision for my study permit extension application?
Because it may take another 2 month or more to receive decision on study permit extension application due to processing time of 4 month.

Please help, will really appreciate.

While it is officialy unclear, it seems you cannot apply with implied status, you must wait for the permit first.

Hello Guys,

I found new information regarding my question that I asked earlier as it may help those in same situation.

There is a new program delivery update on April 08, 2020.
Post-graduation work permit – making an application and restoration of status

that says:
Applicants may apply for a PGWP from within Canada if
  • their study permit is still valid
  • they have a valid visitor record because they changed their status to visitor status before their study permit expired, while waiting for their notice of graduation from their institution, or simply to remain in Canada. However, they would not be eligible to work while waiting for a decision on their PGWP application as per paragraph R186(w)
  • they are on implied status, meaning they submitted an application to extend or change their status to visitor or student before the expiry date of their study permit and no decision has been made
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/post-graduation-work-permit-program/permit.html

Hope it may help.

HI, I am also waiting for SP extension (mine's expired on March 30). I applied February Mid and though I paid for the biometrics, I haven't even received the biometrics letter yet. Can you please share your complete application timeline for your SP extension?

You may apply for a PGWP while awaiting response on SP extension because you're considered to be under Implied Status as long as you applied before your study permit expired. You can find this information under Making an Application via this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/post-graduation-work-permit-program/permit.html

I guess it's safe to apply for restoration when you apply for PGWP under implied status as an agent told me they will probably reimburse that amount even though technically it's not our fault we had to apply for restoration.
