Bridging open work permit (BOWP) - imm 5710e

Hello guys,

I recently got an invitation to apply for PR and I submitted by file to IRCC 0n 16th July. Today, I was applying for bridging open work permit and was filling form imm5710 but I got stuck with the below question.

I am confused because due to the COVID situation 1 month before, I changed my employer and the form has two options as below:

1. Apply for the work permit with the same employer. ( At the time of my PR file submission, I mentioned not employed as I lost the job due to the COVID 19 and so when now I am applying for bridging work permit, I am employed and it's not the same employer. So, I was wondering which option do I need to select?)

2. Apply for the work permit for the first time or with a new employer. (I am not applying work permit for the first time as right now already, I am on my work permit. Yes, I have a new employer now but I am wondering does it matter to select this option as I got PR in express entry category. So, does it matter to apply for a work permit with the same employer or new employer?)

I am confused pls advise.

In the “Details of intended work in Canada” section of the IMM 5710 application form:

  • choose “Open Work Permit” for question 1
  • leave questions 2 to 8 blank
