Hi, I got PR in Jan 2018 and expiring in Jan 2023.

Moved to US in Apr 2018 for work (same co. who sponsored my PR).

Case – I come back to Canada in 2022.

Question – How to renew my PR card (I know that 2 years I need to stay to renew but can I stay from 2022 to 2024 and still renew PR then?) Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Only if you don’t get reported when entering Canada. If you don’t get reported you will need to remain in Canada for 2 years (no travel). You won’t be able to sponsor anyone until you become compliant with your RO in case you get married or have children while in the US.

If you are able to return to Canada without being reported (land borders are better for this), you can stay for two years until you're in compliance with the RO and then apply for a new PR card. You remain a PR and can stay in Canada even after your card expires, although you can't travel.

Of course, it would be better if you return to Canada sooner. The RO is not hard to meet so they take a dim view of people who don't comply unless they have truly extraordinary circumstances. Choosing to continue working in the US won't cut it.

Myself and spouse are having PR. My first child was born in canada and holding Canadian passport so he is good. Second child born in US and holding US passport.

1. So for US born child (2 yrs age now) it will be an issue if I come back in 2022 or before PR card expired (expiring Jan 2023)
2. If I come back in 2021 (2 years before PR card expiry) I can still sponsor my US born child?

please assist.

You need to be in compliance with the RO continue your PR status and to sponsor your child for PR. Based on your first post it sounds like you need to return by April 2021 at the latest. If you try to enter after that, you could be reported for non-compliance and entered into proceedings to have your PR revoked.

Would add that if you had a child in 2018 and you didn't have status before PR you also didn't stay long enough to meet the residency obligations to recieve healthcare coverage and could be asked to pay back any costs for your delivery.
