NOC help for Canadian Experience class - Product owner

Hi Everyone,

I am planning to apply for a PR under the Canadian experience class. I did my bachelor of commerce in supply chain management at Algonquin College. During college, I started my own software Startup and as a result, I was able to pick up skills building a product from scratch with a team of developers even though I did not study computer science as an undergrad. Long story short I got a job as a junior product owner in a company called Yoppworks located in Ottawa. They provide consulting services and have products that they R&D on the side. I was assigned a team under a senior leader of products but considering I was still new to the role my responsibilities were slightly limited compared to a full-fledged senior product owner role. Also, the responsibilities that they listed on my job offer are far more extensive compared to what I was able to do in my short period there. I only worked there for three months because the company had lost a contract and need to downsize and as a result, I was let go after 3 months of working there. But in those three months, I learned a lot and carried out a lot of responsibilities. Now my question is what should I have them add to my work experience letter exactly only what I had the chance to carry out or everything that was included in my job offer?

Also what NOC would make sense for me for this role?
Also considering a product owner works with the engineering team as a voice of the customer, participating in scrum rituals breaking down the requirements into user stories, Creating prototypes and wireframes to convey how the features should function or depict the flow of the application to developers. This is primarily a role in engineering but I have a commerce background will this be an issue when I apply for a PR? I however have a certified Scrum product owner certification.

Position: Junior product owner
Salary : $45,000
Type : Fulltime
Company: yoppworks.com

The responsibilities they listed on my job offer

This is what I actually did in my three months there :

• Facilitated requirements elicitation meetings with the leader of product development to understand what needs to be built out.

• Conducted weekly sprint iterations carrying out all the SCRUM events with the engineering team and the Scrum master.

• Created EPICS in pivotal tracker and broke them down into smaller user stories that the team could commit.

• Wrote detailed acceptance criteria so that developers are aligned on what is the definition of done that they must demonstrate during the sprint review meeting.

• Used Balsamiq to create wireframes and low fidelity prototypes to collect feedback from stakeholders to further iterate on the design. Also used these designs to help the engineering team clearly understand how the feature should function.

• Created documentation to align business and development to make sure they can make more informed decisions by weighing the pro’s and cons of certain technology choices.

• Used playing poker method to get developers to estimate stories by allocating points in the Fibonacci series.

• Analyzed the Product Roadmap and continuously shared the vision and sprint goal with the Engineering team.

• Used InVision studio to create high fidelity prototypes to test and iterate to improve user experience.

• Conducted manual QA testing and wrote out the results and if there were any issues for every scenario.

Lastly, does the work experience letter need to be a physical copy that they send to me or can it be digital version?

Thanks,
Ajay

Job duties that you actually performed. What you actually did.

This is primarily a role in engineering but I have a commerce background will this be an issue when I apply for a PR? I Depends what kind of engineering. Software/systems might be the only exception where a degree in the field is not required.

Also what NOC would make sense for me for this role? Probably NOC 2171

You will apply online, so you will need a scan of the letter. IRCC advises you to retain the hardcopy in case they have further questions.
