Hi, after I received your message, I checked my GCkey account. It has changed from 'Your application is in progress' to 'We are processing your background check' again this morning, not same as yesterday. My pre-arrival letter was received on July 17. I guess they start another part of background check.
Thanks a lot for the heads up - I should also expect the background check status change again prior to DM/PPR. Best of luck with your application!

Hi, will you post the website link here? I have checked IRCC official website, there is no news or no update mentioned that immediate family members will be excluded from the exemption restriction group since July 24, 2020.

While this webpage was lastly updated on July 24th I don't believe the travel exemption rule for immediate family members has changed: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/travel-restrictions-exemptions.html

Information I got is :
Canada prohibits non-essential travel

Except in the following cases:

• Canadian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members returning to Canada;
• Essential workers
• Transit passengers
so mean if you never enter canada before you cannot enter ?? because said immediate family who's returning canada ??

Great! Actually after I compared with GCMS notes and my application timeline, I found out when the background check status is changed to 'Your application is in progress.', it means the background check is paused by the VO. Because my background check was changed to 'Your application is in progress' on Jan 2, 2020, GCMS notes was marked the interview request made on Dec 30, 2019.

I saw this pose in Wechat as well before you shared. I think it's the travel restrictions for Canadian, not applicable for family reunion.

Travel restrictions
To limit the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Canada advises Canadians to avoid all discretionary travel outside of Canada until further notice. Non-discretionarytravel means travelling for reasons that are essential or non-optional.

The Governments of Canada and the United States have temporarily suspended discretionary travel across the Canada-US border. These restrictions remain in place.

If you got your CoPR, but haven’t landed

If we sent you a CoPR, but you haven’t been able to go to one of our offices in Canada to validate it, we’ll contact you to tell you what to do.

You should not travel to a port of entry to validate your CoPR. This is not considered essential travel and you won’t be able to validate it this way.

Due to COVID-19, we have a new process to confirm permanent resident status. We don’t need a CoPR for this new process if you applied from within Canada.

Travelling from any country other than the US

If we issued your confirmation of permanent residence (CoPR) on or before March 18, 2020, you

  • are exempt from the travel restrictions and
  • can travel to Canada with your CoPR to settle and live in Canada as a permanent resident

Check the issue date in the Application Details section of your CoPR to see if this applies to you.

it<s a bit mixed up on this website geez !!
