Hi Everyone,

I have been living in Canada for the past 7 years. I completed my bachelor's degree here and currently on an open work permit. It is a postgraduate work permit that expires by the end of December. Since this is my last few months in Canada I am looking to apply for my PR through the Canadian experience class. I currently have one year of experience required but across three different jobs. The last job I plan to use as part of my application was obtained at a painting company in Ottawa which is a small sole proprietorship. The problem is I just got my work permit extended because back in January my passport expired and so I renewed it and applied for an extension on my PGWP. Technically I was under implied status from the months of February till April. This is when I actually started the job at the painting company in February and I was let go in March because of COVID. So I have a month and 1/2 of work experience there. Now my question is since I was under implied status does this experience count towards Canadian experience?

Also, I am planning to go to India for family reasons in September. I currently have a work permit and sin that is valid until December of this year. The only problem is I didn't apply for the visitor visa foil in my passport. Since my work permit expires in a few months I am planning to leave the country on a one-way ticket to India and stay there till I get my PR. So My question is will I face any issues if I want to leave the country on a one-way ticket back to India but not have visitor visa foil in my passport? I don't plan on returning anyway.

Now when I am in India I plan to apply under the Canadian experience class. Now one of the requirements for the express entry program is getting a police certificate. I can easily get a police certificate for India since I will be there but if they need one for Canada since I lived there for more than 6 months after 18 how can I obtain that? If that's not possible where can I apply online to obtain it in Canada before I leave in September?

Also on a side note, I might have an opportunity to get a job in September with a Canadian startup that offers CRM services. They allow their employees to work from home. So since I have an open work permit till the end of December can I leave Canada and work from India till December? If I do can I still use this experience for PR If I need to in the future even if I am not physically in Canada?

Thanks,
Ajay

You can count work done on implied status, but probably not work done outside of Canada.

You shouldn't have any problem leaving Canada without a TRV, but of course you may be unable to return until you receive a COPR.

You might not need a police certificate for Canada. If they ask you for one you can order it online from the RCMP.

Hi,

AOR: 19th Sep 2019
Stream: CEC Inland
Virtual COPR : June 11 2020

I received COPR letter on June 11 2020. I applied PR card immediately. But, due to a personal emergency I came back to my home country (india).

As per virtual COPR document, I understand that my soft landing is already done. So, there is no deadline to cross the border and this document is valid for one year from the date of issue (June 11 2020). I have a time to come back till next year ( June 11 2021). Am I correct ?

Please guide me the required docs to come back to Canada if I did not receive the PR card?

If you've done your virtual landing and applied for a PR card, then you're already a PR, and your COPR isn't a travel document. You would need to apply for a PRTD to return to Canada.

Thank you. That means, there is no time line to come back canada If I have a PRTD document or Do I need to come back within the time frame on my CoPR letter (one year)?
