I have some good news. My wife's TRV was seemingly approved. The letter says "a decision has been made" and they are asking her to mail her passport to a Canadian consulate in the US. As background, we applied for permanent residency in March but nothing has moved on that front. So, it seems they are willing to approve TRVs for people in that situation.

The letter asks us to ensure the passport has a blank page, and doesn't ask for anything else, so I can't imagine the decision is anything but approved. The problem is my wife is not a US citizen but was on a US visa and had to go to her home country literally 2 days ago before her US visa expired. I hope this doesn't create any problems in the process.

It's possible they would now want her to send her passport to the Canadian consulate in her home country, but if they end up receiving it at the one in the US, I can't imagine they suddenly wouldn't process it because she's no longer in the US...? They require us to include a paid return fedex envelope, so what's the difference to them?

Just wondering if anyone has some thoughts.
Thanks
Lots of congratulations, hope every thing goes well for her.

Yep, she will fedex it to USA, then hopefully they'll fedex it back to her home country even though at the time of application she resided in the US.
She applied June 20.

You can change her address of residence by webform. I'm guessing this was done? Just make sure they have the correct mailing address.

Just FYI- some countries doesn’t allow to courier the passport outside their home country. For instance India doesn’t allow it. Make sure you find out this before mailing it.

Hi all,
IRCC website says that in order to reunite with a family member who is a temporary resident in Canada, one must reach out to IRCC asking for exemption and they would respond in 5 working days. It has been 10 working days so far and I have received no response at all. I received my dependent open work permit visa on the 8th of July after waiting for 4 months. I suffice all the conditions of the exemption. I have a visa and my husband is in Canada on a temporary visa. I do not know how to proceed.

Is someone facing an issue as mine?

What did you write to them? You need to include all these info:

Email us at IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca and provide all the following information for you and your immediate family member in Canada:

· Full name

· Date of Birth

· UCI

· Application Number

· Passport Number

· Detailed purpose of travel

· Proof of relationship with an immediate family member in Canada

· Proof of immigration status of the immediate family member in Canada

· Proof of Temporary Resident Visa or Electronic Travel Authorization

Note: You must demonstrate that you are travelling for essential reasons as immediate family members of FN are not exempt from travel restrictions. If you don't meet the requirements, they will not reply to you. You reach to them to get the authorization letter which is what they mean by exemption. You still need to prove that you are not travelling for discretionary purpose.

What were your essential reasons for needing to travel?

Did you write a special email or did you do a different step apart the online application?

Congratulations, when did you request the TRV and what description did you use in the letter for the quarantine plan and requirements?

Hi,

I submitted my application yesterday. Do I have to email the IRCC that I applied only and I am qualified to that exemption?

Thank you

You'll need to attach a proposed flight. Your husband will also quarantine inside with you for 14 days if you stay in his apartment.

Yes we attached a proposed flight and stated in the letter about the quarantine plan.

Question, Do I have to email IRCC thatbibhave an TRV application on process and the rest of the details? I read it from the website.i just want to verify

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any idea about the TRV validity for spouses? I mean is it a single or multiple entry visa and for how many years could it be valid?

If we apply with the COVID-19 stated in the purpose of travel, and prove that she is my wife, and have quarantine plan and everything, do they waive the biometric requirements for this visa, that would be ideal since my wife is in India where all the VACs are closed? Are there any alternate ways to submit biometrics apart from VACs.

Helo guys,
Yesterday I applied for wife TRV and today we received BIL. VACs are currently closed but my question is, does this BIL means our TRV would approve after bio? Or still can it be refuse?
