Are you aware of any new programs? It has been at least a year since they started being flexible and not following strict order for things like when to do the medical but this timeline is highly irregular.
I know the government was in the process of generating a program that’d fast track certain refugees and temporary foreign workers Pr applications because they worked in healthcare and in demand sector during the lockdown. There was a pilot program they only opened few days ago to fast track temporary resident’s Pr applications. So,they may just be calling failed/refugees to get info since they don’t want to give automatic Pr to everyone.

We're still not sure whether the healthcare program will go ahead because many of the PSWs would not have qualified for asylum. It is a much more complex issue because lots of asylum seekers were front line workers not all PSW. The refugee groups picketed and proposed a potential program for automatic PR for PSWs in Quebec through the media. The Quebec government was against creating the program and Trudeau said something like we have an asylum program for a reason so all asylum seekers are treated equally. After more pushback they seem to have something in the works but it is unclear what it is. It could lead to so many potential lawsuits from other asylum seekers. It is a much more complex issue than it seems and also sets a precendent for any other potential big event.

There was talk of creating fast processing of those arriving at Roxham road due to the theory that many would not qualify for asylum so you would would want to reject those who didn't qualify for asylum as soon as possible but that never happened. What did happen was expedited processing and even in some cases approval without interview of asylum seekers from countries where the approval rate has been historically very high.

Not heard of any new H&C programs except being less rigid about the order of steps. I'm sure you'll let everyone know if you have more concrete details.

I know they are fast-tracking PRs and temporary work visas for sectors in immediate need of workers. Don't think that is related to H&C.

We all know the Government is very slow in decision making process.During the pandemic, those who worked in care homes with their status in check walked off while refugees stayed back to save lives. Now it’s time to reciprocate, then it becomes a convoluted process.

It is a much bigger and complex issue. There are also refugees who left care homes because they were fearful or had a vulnerable family member at home or just didn't have any childcare options. I interacted with one on this forum. Many refugee were brought in by agencies to fill in any staffing need and to increase staffing. It is not an easy decision because many othr work on the frontline say at grocery stories, work in meat processing or other essential services where there were outbreaks. What if you do a great job as a PSW in another provice with less covid do you not get PR too? Claiming asylum is what allowed them to be in Canada during covid. If we start awarding PR to asylum seekers who don't have strong asylum cases and and especially in cases where they have been denied asylum and are waiting appeal it creates precedence. Next time there is a pandemic, a national disaster, etc. asylum seekers will rush to help because they may think this could get them PR. I can see many lawyers arguing that their client deserves to get PR because they risked their lives helping people in a significant crisis so their client should get the same treatment as the PSWs if it goes through. If the PSW PR program goes ahead all those other essential workers will appeal and state that they also deserve PR because they worked in a job where there was a higher risk of covid infection. I am just saying it isn't a simple tit for tat. This also will change the fact that all asylum seekers go through the process and are treated the same. If it does happen it will motivated by policial reasons since the Liberals need more votes in Quebec .

What I do agree is it is a very hard job and they deserve a raise but I thought that before covid.

Hey guys, I applied for humanitarian 5 months ago. Today I received request for biometrics even though I already gave biometric with refugee application. Mine are still valid for 7 more years. Is this a good sign? First letter I recieved was acknowledgement and now second letter is telling me my file is now processing and need biometric.

Hey, they seem to be asking everyone from 2019/2020 to pay for Biometrics but I haven’t seen it gone past that.I applied December 2019 and I was asked to pay for Biometrics in February 2020.Then few months after,my application went into process. And nothing else.A member pointed inland applicants are no longer required to give Biometrics and you will get a refund once your application goes into processing. Not sure but it’s something to look into

Did you include finger print when you submitted your h & c application?
My application was ready in July 2019 but my lawyer told me to get finger print done as it's now mandatory when submitting h & c application.
I had to get it done in a private firm and sent to him when I received it by mail from Ottawa.
My application was later submitted 30th September 2019 and I got AOR 1st November 2019 and now in process 23rd June 2020 with my file moved from Vancouver to Toronto

How do you know when your mom APPLICATION is in PROCESS on the gcms not? because on mine I see status open can you explain it to me please

Look on the very first page of the GCMS notes. Under the APPLICATION heading look at the lines that say:

App Status:
App Status Reason:

What does it say for both?
