For how long does IRCC generally extend the study permit for?

Context:
My application has been in process for quite a while now while I got revoked off my student status. So now I can only continue my studies after receiving my extension and restoration.

My projected completion date is set at 31 Dec 2020. However, I'd need more time as it keeps delaying because my restart time depends on when I receive the extension. My stupid university is unhelpful in providing me with an updated letter with a later date. So I'm wondering if it's necessary for me to update IRCC to ask for a longer extension.

Generally, 90 days past the date of completion on your acceptance letter.

If the application is in process, then how can the student get revoked off their student status?


I thought they were on implied status till they received a decision on their application, if the application is in process.
