1+1 program

Hello, hope you all are doing well, I'm a bit confused on how this 1+1 program thing works, my field related diplomas are of 1 year, so what if I get admitted in my field related diploma of 1 year and then get admission in another 1 year program after completing my 1st diploma, how will I get 3 years PGWP? Like I will be having 2 different transcripts so how does this thing works? Can someone please explain me. Thanks in advance.

If it’s a post graduate level of study, then you shall qualify for 3 years of Post Graduate Work Permit
It is simple- if you study for two academic years then you are qualified for three years of Work Permit

Yes it is a PGD, is it risky? Like is there any case in which I will be provided with less than 3 years even after doing 2 diplomas? And if for example I graduate from 1 diploma in August , then how can I continue with another in September? Do they allow?

The second situation won’t be a problem at all, you will just need to extend your study permit on time (make sure you read about extension rules, etc)

and for your first query, there won’t be any risky situations provided you complete your both courses properly (which means- don’t flunk or stop attending classes or break any immigration rule) so if you cater to all the legalities, you shall be fine.

No, they are not that sceptical when evaluating the extension application. They mostly see if you can pay the remaining tuition fees (if you haven’t paid the entire fees yet) & will see if you have enough funds to survive in Canada. Rest, they won’t be that strict like the first time, but mind it, nothing is guaranteed as it depends from case to case but if one has everything right… there shouldn’t be a roadblock.

A max of 150 days gap is fine but not exceeding that so 4 months ... usually when you finish a course of 8 months n you will have remaining 4 months to extend your visa n work full time but make sure by January you begin

Students may work off campus on a full-time basis until the start of their new program if the following applies:

• they meet the eligibility criteria to work off campus [R186(v)]
• they have received written confirmation of program completion from their current institution (for instance, a transcript or an official letter)
• they have submitted an application to change conditions, extend their stay or remain in Canada as a student before their current study permit expired, or they still have a valid study permit
• they have been issued a letter of acceptance to a subsequent program of full-time study at a DLI and will be starting the new program within 150 calendar days of receiving a notification of program completion from their current institution

If the new program of study starts more than 150 calendar days after the first date they receive written confirmation of program completion from their current institution, the student is eligible to work off campus only during the first 150 consecutive days after the first date they receive written confirmation of program completion. They should then either apply to change their status (for instance, change it into visitor status) or leave Canada until their new program commences.
