Hello, I have applied for myself for a spouse open work permit, my wife is a student doing her masters in Canada. I applied for SOWP online on June 30th and after a long silence of 3 months 23 days my application was approved on Oct 23th and have received Passport request on the same day. I have submitted my passport in VFS global on Oct 24th and expecting it to be returned in a week probably.

So I would say the timeline would be around 3-4 months or it may vary case to case. Be sure and perfect with your documentation. Good Luck..!!

Cheers..!!
Hello Buddy.

Congrats for it. I have a query and hope you would be in a better position to assist
My spouse in interested to study a PGD in IT (she is a Master of science in IT degree holder in Indian) in an university in Canada and I too want to accompany her along. We met few consultants where some are telling to file the student visa first and once the student visa is approved, I can file the SOWP. I mean, I want to accompany her along and is there a way to do that.

I can prove my ties to the nation that I have a single mother in India ->My Employer will hire me once I'm back -> Also, I can demonstrate that my spouse will need my company to aid her in assisting in her college studies, be a moral and financial support to her due to the Covid crisis and all.
Also, I can show up to 8000 CAD in my account (after my spouse's college fees and her GIC amount).

So can you share with me the documents you have used in this process, Financial requirements and other best practices to ensure that I travel along with my spouse and also the SOWP not get rejected.

I work at Wipro as an IT admin and is my only employer. Would be immensely helpful if you could assist

Hi,

My husband will apply for study visa shortly for Jan 2021 intake, so as his spouse I can apply for OWP together! Is it advisable to apply in one application or should I wait for my husband's visa and then apply for my OWP? Will we be able to fly together seeking the current visa processing time?

Also I have studied in Canada when I was unmarried, did post graduate advance diploma & returned back to my home country (India) later on. For your information I have exhausted my one time post graduate work visa. I graduated from Canadian institution in 2014 and returned to India 2017. Also one my elder sister is a Canadian citizen. Will all these scenarios affect our or my application now?

Kindly suggest.

Regards,

Buddy, can you please tell me what documents are needed and other conditions to get it done?
I mean, can you explain me end to end about what you have done and financial requirements (for the accompanying spouse).
It would be immensely helpful if you could do this

We applied for my wife's open work permit on Sep 16 (I am in Canada with Study Permit). We are from Nepal, but the application is processed in New Delhi. The application has been stuck at "background check" and "reviewing eligibility" from the beginning. We have not received a request for medical.

When did you apply? Did you get a request for medical? Did you give upfront medical? What is your progress?

Can someone let me know the Canadian visa category for medicals?
Is it EDE-family or NON-EDE

Along with that, Can you please provide, If you have any idea when the VFS biometric appointments will get started?
