it clearly stats a 14 years old or older minor need to sign. No she doesn't need to sign.

Hi all, I would appreciate your advice and weigh ins on this issue. What does clearance for minors mean? Is that police certificate? My son was away for >200 days after landing as Pr. When he turned 14yrs old, he spent 95days before returning fully to Canada. Today, he’s 16. IRCC says to obtain a police report if a minor has spent 730days in a row when 14yrs old and older. Looking at my scenario, do we obtain a police report (applying together as family)? Is that what the clearance is about? Pls see IRCC statement of website below. Thanks so much for your responses.
Clearances
  • Minors must not be prohibited under 22 of the Act and must not be the subject of a declaration by the Governor-in-Council made under section 20 of the Act.
  • Permanent resident status is verified for all minor applicants and that status must have been maintained and there must be no unfulfilled conditions under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act related to their permanent resident status.
  • Criminal and security clearances are generally not requested for minors under 16, although an official may request such clearances, if adverse information is received.
  • Criminal and security clearances are required for minors 16 years of age and older.
  • Local offices must verify minor children clearances in situations where they are close to 15 and a half years of age. This is to be prepared to request their criminal and security clearance and have results in time in order to avoid delays in the process.

I think minors aren't required to submit police certificates.

I think it states on the IRCC website.

Minor below14 years are not required to submit a pcc. Minor above 14 years are required to submit one if they spent 183 days outside canada in the last 4 years. Check IRCC application for citizenship for minor it's clearly stated there.

You right ....it’s noted on the document checklist only. So in my case I described, spent 250days outside Canada but out of which he spent 90days when he turned 14 years and older, should we get a police report? That’s my dilemma ...tnx

Are you guys using the latest form? Or am I missing something?

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-0003-application-canadian-citizenship-minors-under-18-years.html

The check list on this form does not indicate any PCC. When i google CIT0008 shows that PCC is required. Is that an old form?

Cit0560 which is the checklist on the page above does not ask for a PCC.

check the below link and the: if this applies to you section.

Application form version is CIT 003 ( 03-2020)E the latest version I believe and the checklist associated to that version is CIT0008, I believe this is not the old version as it clearly says 03-2020. below is the link

You're right, the page that I have posted seems to have been updated in May 2019. The one you posted is updated in March 2020. So this really is the latest one.

Thanks then. I stand corrected, kids over 14 do need a PCC
