Hi all,
Canadian here and my wife is Algerian. We are filing an outland spousal sponsorship and expect it to take 18 months to receive confirmation from Quebec. But during this time she is expecting French citizenship from her father and it may be avilable to her within a year. Is it OK to file as Algerian only and without any mention of French status for herOutland Spousal Sponsorship to Canada? Or do we need to wait the full year to receive the French citizenship and then apply for the sponsorship afterwards, making it approximately 30 months in total?
Thank you

Yes - it's absolutely fine to file as Algenrian only. There is no reason to wait.

Thanks -- am wondering if it's possible to apply Outland this year and move to Canada next year while still keeping it Outland? Have been informed that sometimes people can be denied visa, but if my wife is French citizen it may not be an issue.

What is the main benefit of waiting the full 18 months on Outland outside of Canada compared to waiting 12 months and coming to Canada for the next 6 months while the application is being processed? If we wait 18 months before moving and are accepted, my wife can get a PR upon entry and this will provide the ability to work immediately within Canada? But if we move to Canada while the Outland sponsorship is still being processed she needs to arrive on visitor visa and can take 4-5 months for an Open Work Permit?

Hope I have that info correct.
Thanks again all

She can come on visitor Visa during an outland application in process. But if she needs to be interviewed then she needs leave Canada to attend it in her VO. Difference between outland and inland is that you will get open work permit in Inland whereas outland is bit faster than inland.

She will need to go to a Visa Office in Algeria for an interview?

"Difference between outland and inland is that you will get open work permit in Inland whereas outland is bit faster than inland."
Approximately how much faster is it to receive an open work permit on Inland compared to the 4-5 months on Outland?

1. Ya. She need to attend in Algeria if an interview required.
2.No open work permit for outland applicant. Only for inland.

I don't know if an interview is required - any way to find out beforehand?
Oh right - no need to OWP for outland. Is PR is provided upon landing in Canada for an approved outland rather than open work permit?

Am a bit confused with this, do you get PR upon landing in Canada with Outland after being approved, and why would Outland be a bit faster?

You need to be approved and have your COPR before coming to Canada and landing as a PR. Think you are overthinking this. Would also anticipate delays in both the processing of French citizenship and spousal sponsorship.
