Hi Friends,

Outland applicant, OINP - FSW
AOR: December 27th, 2019.
Medical Passed: 16th January, 2020
Biometrics: 24th January, 2020.

Today, 6 months estimated processing time of my application got over and the processing bar is 100% complete. Above the processing bar I noticed the below given update -

" Your application is taking us longer than usual to process.

About 20% of our applications are more complex to process. They take us longer due to things like how easily we can verify information, how well and how quickly you answer our requests and whether the application is complete.

If you aren't seeing updates, contact us using this Web form. Make sure you read your messages and take action when we ask you to. "

Can you please let me know is this a generic update to all the applicants whose application processing time as crossed the timeline of 6 months process time or is it specific to some applicants whose applications are complex?

Till date I haven't received any personal message from CIC regarding my application all are generic updates.
I have an exactly the same timeline - Alberta PNP. I think it's a generic update - at least that's what I heard from others.

I am free to voice my opinion. Am I not? You are free to disagree/criticize and I don't have a problem with that. I have had my share of problems living outside India as a non-immigrant for the last 12 years. Many times I have been separated from my spouse due to visa issues. Immigration itself is never a smooth process and full of hindrances. Having been through immigration process in other countries I can tell you Canada is the most friendly and straight forward.

All I am saying is IRCC is doing the best they can in these circumstances IMO.
By not announcing anything about outland applications they not doing any favour to anyone. They should come clear and announce their intentions just like inland or any other streams. And they should treat these applicants just like they treating other canadians stuck abroad

There are Inland folks are waiting too without final decision (even when case is ready for approval as per their notes) and any sort of announcement even after crossing the 6 month mark...

I have the same situation. I resigned and completing my 6 weeks time at the moment, only 3 weeks left. But I spoke with them about this situation like 3.5 months ago. I felt under pressure that I had to resign at some point, even though they said I can stay till the end of summer.
I was about to ask for advice in this forum.
I have a 2 months notice period in my current job.
My position in the company is not going well after I requested for referral letter. The management is not investing in me anymore as they know that I'll be leaving soon. And then this pandemic striked.
My passport will be expiring in less than a year.
And I have not passed my resignation letter yet given that I have 2 months notice period that I need to render.
Do you think I should risk it, pass my resignation letter, and hope that I'll receive my PPR/COPR before my 2 months?
I've already sent 3 webforms (received 2 generic replies), called IRCC (was given generic update also), and applied GCMS (haven't received the result yet).
I am currently working in a 1st world country outside Canada. If I resign, I'll only have a month (as a tourist) to stay here after my 2 months notice period. I have no intention to go back to my home country while this pandemic is still ongoing as the chances that VFS Global will open is more higher in the current country where I'm working (as the handling of COVID-19 situation is better here).

Unfortunately I am not betting on things being done within 2 months. My lease is up in that time and I am making plans for where to live afterward.

I have heard from others that they will make an announcement on the border before the end of this month (so early next week). I hope Trudeau will say something enlightening there. It also seems IRCC is at least attempting to figure out how to deal with outlanders, with the recent survey and posting on the government website. I would personally wait a little longer if I were in your shoes until we get better information.

Hi,
I really know that it is hard to work under that pressure. During this pandemic stage we could test whether we could live with only single wage. My husband’s wage is enough now, we minimized our spendings. We are already in our home country. My case is easier than yours.
If you can handle the pressure try to stay at work a bit more. Because if your tourist visa expires before canada opens border, you need to move. Then you need to move again.

Thank you for your advice Tanglechuu and Pofsally! I'll probably wait a little more I guess before I pass my resignation letter.

Hey all.
I recieved an email february 27th confirming my application was recieved at the Mississauga office on december 30,2019. I have been told i have an AOR date of december, is this correct?

I applied for my spousal sponsorship- inland.
Along with an open work permit.

I havent recieved any updates on either.

I recieved an automated message(assuming it was automated) last week reminding me to pay for my biometrics for my open work permit, amd a comfirmation email that my payment was added to my application.

I am apllying for my 2nd visitor visa extension as my extended visitor visa expires july 15th. I have been told i have implied status if the "verifications"happen in time. Pretty sure they wont. Im not even sure what those verifications would be refering to.

All the biometric offices are closed and it seems like a waiting game since I didnt get to have that done before all the covid19 stuff happened. And i know i will have to go in for a medical exam as well(i believe?).

Anyone else in a similar situation?? I know so many of you are getting CoPR quickly under different circumstances. Im just becoming frustrated with how many walls ive been hitting djring this process. My husband and I got married last july and I have been here in BC, Canada since august.

If only they could approve the spouses of CEC inland applicants that are not in Canada. Honestly they can even put a clause that the outlanders do not get CERB for all we care.
Totally, don't mind this CERB. Just wanted to have some real up-to-date information for us to make some plan.

If I were you, I would not quit because no one knows when your application will be approved and when Canada opens their border. At least you can stay in your current country with a job. My situation is quite similar to you and I have 3-month notice. I wanted to quit and decided to stay longer until I hear anything from IRCC. At least I get paid every month and I can also save more money for Canada. Guess finding jobs there would be tough

Wise words - don’t quit till you get job interviews lined up in Canada. At the moment Canadian economy is in recession - only place you can find jobs are call centres , everything else is closed. Even after you get PR , start apply for jobs from your home country and then fly here, economy is really bad, CERB is helping people but once CERB is over in August - it will be devastating . COVID has destroyed everything

Thank you for all wise advice! I'm working in software engineering / IT industry and I initially thought it might be easier to look for jobs in my field. But even if it is, if Canada won't open borders, there's nothing much I can do.
I need to be patient if security is what I prioritize.
Hopefully visa offices will open soon in our countries of residence and they start sending PPR/COPR soon to everyone.
I only started to feel anxious about the status of my application this month. I wish I had checked this forum earlier so I could have requested my GCMS notes earlier. I was still confident last April/May that my application will be approved soon as I didn't receive any update about any issue on my application after my biometrics last January. I should have scheduled for my passport renewal earlier if I knew the approval would be this much delayed.
