Hello,

Inland Québec Spousal Spondorship

We got two letters saying that the eligibility of the sponsor and the person sponsored has been approved.
Also that biometrics are not needed. (We paid anyways, because we thought IRCC would request them, but they will send us a refund). The medical exam is passed. The only thing still not competed seems to be the background check.

I would like to know what are the next steps until the PR is issued and if they assign automatically a Social Insurance Number or if I will have to ask for one after getting the PR myself.

Thank you in advance.

what happens next is that you wait for further instructions from IRCC. you will not get until you land.

What means "until you land"? I am already in Canada. What could those instructions be besides interview? Do you know?

Thanks.

By landing, they meant ''getting your final interview''. Basically, you're waiting for the background check to be completed, then you'll get your Decision Made e-mail, and your COPR/Interview Invite. And then you're done, you're a PR, they'll issue you a SIN.

Thank you for your detailed reply. :)
I know it's imposible to know for sure, but usually how long could this take? Is it days, weeks or could it be months due to the background check?

Even if the background check started in July 2019 could it take months now?

You can call them to ask, an agent will advise you if everything has been passed and only finalization of the case is pending, or if you still have some criteria is under review. There's no formula for this, the best thing you can do is to wait for the next correspondence. Good luck.

Ours started in December, and still isn't completed, according to the GCMS Notes I got last week. The RCMP check is usually fast, it's CSIS that's notoriously slow.

SIN is not automatically issued, it has to be applied for. Maybe you mean PR card will be issued automatically?

I didn't mean automatically, I meant you will qualify for one. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Right you are. Check the requirements to obtain a SIN, I believe your COPR, passport and a doc that shows your current residence in Canada. Lease agreement, property ownership etc. We did ours online, right now that is the only way to do it, had the SIN in about 10 days.
