Hi..I'm from the States and my visa was approved for study.

I'm in the States right now. Can I travel to Canada with my student visa?

Thanks.

If you travel for the second time, you can get in. But if it's first time and your classes are online, CBSA can still deny you since your travel is non-essential. Since you're in the States, try calling CBSA and ask them about your case.

May I ask you what date you submitted your application for study permit, and what date was it approved? I submitted mine on March 20, 2020 and have had no communication since then so I am curious about your experience.

I believe that if your permit was approved prior to March 18, you may travel to Canada and if it was approved after March 18 you may not. There is a lot of confusion out there, so I may be wrong.

When do your studies start? You shouldn’t be arriving too soon before your studies start.

I don't think this really matters. I have a friend, with his family, just got in for the fall semester, but because that friend's courses are both online and offline.

The thing is that arriving too early and being allowed in really depends on both the CBSA officer at the time and whether someone is convincing enough that they are financially secure enough to support themselves without working before classes start. So there is no guarantee and anyone who decides to arrive months before classes start does so at their own risk, usual advice is 4-6 weeks maximum but still be prepared to show financial stability.
