Hi, my boyfriend has a child in the philippines and we planned to include her during sponsorship after our marriage. I’m wondering if it’s possible that I’ll sponsor them together and his daughter will stay in the philippines for a year after the approval. We plan to settle here first before we take and bring her here. Thank you

Yes she can be included as non-accompanying.

You'll need to include his daughter on the application - including paying all related fees (biometrics, etc) upfront. The daughter will have to complete a medical exam (when instructed to do so in the long process). Indicate why his daughter will not be accompanying him (i.e. staying with bio mom to finish school - whatever the real reason is). If you don't do this the entire application can be rejected, and the daughter will not be eligible for sponsorship at any time in the future.

I will include her in the application. We just want to settle down here first before we’ll take her. Is it possible after visa approval that she’ll stay in the philippines for a year?

Yes, if you include her on the current application, pay all associated fees upfront, and she completes (and passes) the required medical exam, she can be sponsored at a later date.

Thank you. We wanted her to follow later. But wondering about the visa expiration.

Including his daughter as a non-accompanying child on the current application is sort of a pre-approval process for the her eventual PR application (sort of like those credit card offers "You've been pre-approved to apply!").

When she is ready to come to Canada she'll have her own application process, though it will be streamlined somewhat by including her on her fathers application now. I'm going through this exact process now.

That is another painfull process might as well include her on the application process.

Your partners daughter MUST be included on his PR application - whether she's accompanying him now, at a later date, or never. If you want her to be eligible for sponsorship at any time in the future the daughter must be included on the current application, and all associated fees must be paid upfront. And she must complete and pass a medical exam (when instructed by IRCC).

If she is included on the current application as non-accompanying and you don't pay any fees, or she can't get a medical exam (uncooperative ex, etc) the daughter will not be eligible for sponsorship in the future.

I agree that it's simpler to include her in the application. If she is old enough to travel alone, she can land with your boyfriend and go back to the philippines to continue with her school by herself after a short vacation in Canada.

She is only 9 years old. That is another option. Just in case I’ll include her on the application now, is it possible that she will just follow after a year? How about the visa expiration date?

That's what I mean. Her visa may expire sooner than you want. It's usually 1 year from the medical exam date. So she may need to take an extra trip to land as a PR and if she is so young, your boyfriend may need to fly with her back home if she needs to go back to her home country.

That is another expenses. Tickets are expensive. Is any other way aside from that? If my boyfriend declared her as un-accompanying dependent should I file a different sponsorship During the time we’re ready to bring her here?

It's up to you and your boyfriend. I think there is also cost for filing another sponsorship application and medical exam cost (by then, her old exam result will not be valid). And your boyfriend will be the one filing the sponsorship application (since he will be a PR then).
So, calculate your time and cost and choose accordingly.
