A friend was told about not traveling to Canada by CBSA if classes are online. I recommend the ones who have Booked their tickets to confirm it themselves by calling CBSA. This applies to first time fliers. Verify it again if anyone needs to and reply back if some other info is received.

So someone received this email on twitter. This falls in line with what some students have experienced with having their boarding denied. If true, IRCC didn't communicate with students atm. Maybe they will. Highly disappointed personally as a student waiting to go for Fall as most classes are being online. Few students will be able if they can prove their in person classes have started.

If this is true, I'm really frustrated. IRCC can just note it on the website so that everyone knows and won't take risks. Some of my friends (and maybe more) are booking tickets, not mentioning that we all have to book a place for quarantine in advance, because of their pinned post on FB, claiming that "If you’re exempt, you can now travel to Canada." It doesn't cost them anything just to note that on the website, or they assume that everyone will get that?

Btw, I also found this post on Twitter: "You will be treated as essential travel without a single question as long as you have the introduction letter from IRCC which states you are approved for a study permit before March 18. That’s how I traveled to Canada month ago." It seems like this guy got into Canada successfully in May. Don't know if things are changing now

Yes. This is very frustrating actually. Information like this is very essential to be communicated in a timely manner. I am very disappointed as well. They seem to have introduced a condition of essential reason to travel even when you are exempt from restrictions. Then what is the point of being exempt in the first place. Just more bureaucracy to confuse us. Hope something positive is communicated on the IRCC website soon.

And they are still telling people you can fly to Canada if you are approved. It looks like there is no communication even among their own departments.

Nothing is guaranteed. You need to try your luck and hope for the best. Depends on other factors as well. People with less marks have gotten visas, so you still have a chance. Good luck!

Hey. Do you know where I can find this letter?

"Foreign nationals who had a study permit application approved before March 18, 2020 have been sent a letter (push notification) advising them about

  • public health measures in place to limit the spread of coronavirus in Canada
  • what to expect upon arrival, in particular the mandatory 14-day quarantine instructions
The letter also requests that they check with their designated learning institution (DLI) to make sure their course or study program is still operating."

I haven't received it as well. BTW, we have more students from India who have their boarding denied recently. Things aren't looking good....

Okay so situation looks grim now.

@Dafaqisgoingon , Seems you were right mate.

To me, it looks totally random. No single rule in place that determines entry. Some people get to enter, some are denied entry. It's all very confusing, and looks like IRCC, CBSA, and their other departments themselves are all confused and have not put in a set guideline maybe regarding who can enter and who can't.

By the way, @vhptanh@97 which airline did this person who got entry use? Maybe that airline isn't denying boarding..?
