Hi everyone.

I have received an ITA on CEC stream. It seems that it's not asking for any Police Certificate in my case.

I came to Canada back in 2012, when I was a 16 years old. Since then, I have only visited Japan (my home country) twice. Once in 2015 and most recently in 2019. Both trips to Japan were less than a month. So, I have technically only lived in Canada for more than six months since the age of 18.

Just to be on the safe side, I have requested Police Certificate from Japan, which is just... white paper basically. Nothing on there except for my name.

Do I need to submit a Canadian Police Certificate? I know that you aren't required to, but I am almost certain that they will ask for one since I lived in Canada for 7~8 years..

Any advice?

Thank you

Yes ,you do need PCC from the RCMP. Got the "fingerprint based" one when you are at it.

Alright. Just to clarify. I am not required to submit one, but it would accelerate the processing of my application, correct?

I do believe IRCC will require one during the process. It's better to provide one now than to get an ADR from them , which will delay your application since any ADR will trigger a BFD.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. The only thing is because the local police service offices are all closed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am not sure if I am allowed to visit RCMP offices to get one..

In most cases, your RCMP check will be done internally, behind the scenes, and you don't have to submit one unless explicitly asked for one. I don't think you will be asked, but if you are . . .
As for Japan, no PCC required.

Oh ,sorry ,I forgot about the current circumstance . If I were you ,I would just go without one and submit the application and wait for that ADR since it looks like we got no other choice.

It seems that there are some regional police services that are open outside Winnipeg. I could do a nice drive of 2 hours and get one if needed haha. But I am sure my name is pretty unique (Japanese... after all). I think I may be fine.

I will check if the regional police service office can provide me one just in case though. thanks everyone for your help.

Okay, do it if you can spare the time . It's a fairly easy process, they will take your fingerprint and send them to the RCMP headquarters for checking. Usually you should receive it in the mail within 2 weeks. You should give it more times given the current pandemic.

Also, they will most definitely ask for one during the process, although they might be able to do one internally.

Yup I just called one of RCMP accredited fingerprinting agencies, and I booked one for myself next Monday! I didn't know you could also do it this way haha
