Study permit extended, but weird expiry date?

Hey guys,

Some info:

Original permit expiry date: 2020/07/19
New program start date: 2020/09/09
New program end date: 2023/04/30

I applied for a study permit extension on May 12 and got a ghost update today, showing my application was accepted.

However, on "Document Status" is showing that my Study Permit Expiry Date is 2021/07/30. That doesn't make sense, because my program end date is 2023/04/30. Why did they gave me only one year when my program has a duration of 3? Is there any way I can ask them to reconsider? Or should I just suck it up and extend it again next year?

I still haven't received any e-mail or message in my account about the approval. Is there a chance that, when I receive it, my study permit will have a longer expiry date, despite the "document status" showing that it will expiry in 2021?

Any advice will be appreciated.

You probably got your study permit for only 1 year, this happens and you will have to extend it later. I had to apply 4 times during my 5 years in university. The shortest I got was for 4 months only which is not logical at all.

If I had to guess, they want to see your grades and that you are enrolled before they give you the full amount. Also, your funds probably show just enough so they may want to check your funds for the next year.

No, my friend had only around 15000 and got hers for 3 years and I had over 100000 and max got for a year something, plus we were from the same country and in the same program. So it just depends on the officer who's making the decision.

Yes of course. I'm guessing that that particular officer made that analysis
