Sponsor refugees while on EI

I have some families to sponsor, however because of the Covid-19 I am o EI. Would that affect their application in terms of financials?

Ei is not considered welfare so you can apply for soousal sponsorship while you are receiving Employment Insurance

Really depends on the finances of the group of 5. EI often doesn't cover your expenses so proirity always goes to you using your savings to support your life in Canada versus sponsoring other. Really depends on how much extra savings you have in addition to your portion of the group of 5 that will get locked into another account.
