Hi there,

I’ve applied For a study permit after I got accepted for a Canadian collage last year on September to be exact, and I got refused. For two reasons first that the officer is not satisfied that I will leave after my studies finish. And the second for the availability of work in my country could encourage me to overstay.

The first refusal I think because I didn’t know that I have to submit SOP which might be the case that I didn’t explain anything and just submitted the documents that in the check list.

The program that I’m participating for is actually a starter program for 1 year (2 semesters) so I can participate for computer science program for 3 years. I didn’t explain that in the first and the second refusal. I’m really confused on how I can explain that in the SOP!

Will I need also to provide a police report or it’s unnecessary?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! ☺

You must clearly state that how your current course will give you employment opportunities in your country. A statistic would help. And not just say that after my course I'll return back to my home country. At the same time try explaining that this particular course is not being taught in my home country

Thank you! for the information, I wanted to note that this course is a starter for another 3 years course (Computer Science). It will make me eligible to enter the 3 years course with no problem. However I’m afraid to explain and say that I intend to apply for another course after the 1 year starter course finishes. Or I just explain everything truthfully?

No no please don't do that. This will clearly show that you are going for migration purpose. Just describe the course you wana go for meaning give a summary of what modules you'll learn, link that course with the current employment opportunities in your country (ie financial sector, industry etc) and try explaining that this course is not available in your country maybe due to lack of tutors, or maybe level of science n technology is modern in canada

Never talk much about the duration of the course as it will already be on the offer letter. You can just mention it's a year course .And one thing never link this course to another course. They will catch you n reject your visa saying you do not intend to leave canada after studies

Hiding information from the visa officer may result in in a 5 year ban from entering Canada and will affect your future temporary permit applications.

IRCC have the resources to verify your information and they have seen thousands of applications. You were refused because the visa officer cannot establish that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay. It is foolish to think they will believe that you are going to travel halfway across the world to one of the most expensive places to live, just to do a 1 year starter course.

Who in the right mind will believe that you will return home after that? It will be such a waste of money and time.

Thanks for the answer. Actually you’re right and that’s what I’m talking about. I think I got refused because I didn’t submit SOP in the first place. However I will take this starter 1 year course then I will take the 3 years course and that’s the only way I would be eligible for computer science program. So I was thinking to tell every bit of the truth that I intended to study another 3 years program after I finish the. 1 year course. But the guy who answered me first above made me afraid to explain the truth in the SOP. From your experience what do you think is better?

Like it's your choice anyway you feel.. Usually for those students who do back to back courses never reveal about the second course they intend to do as this will give the visa officer a doubt that you planning to stay longer than your current course of 1 year. But anyways do what you feel is best for you .goodluck with it..

Yeah I understand that. However 1 year course seems not legit I think that I will leave so if like I said the international student coordinator said to me that I must take this course before the 3 year course and I would mention the coordinator’s email in the SOP would that make sense?

So it’s about me convincing the officer that I will leave after I finish the course that’s all?
Hmm I had done the same way but do what you feel is best for you.. you could always say that this particular course could open path for other higher level courses.. nothing's right or wrong but its all about convincing them n making it clear that you will leave the country after studies
