Would it help us to hire an immigration attorney here in the US to help setting things up?
Help set up what exactly? Are you looking to immigrate to Canada? If so, no need for a lawyer if you're willing to do the research yourself. Most people do it on their own. If you want help, then hire an immigration lawyer in Canada (not the U.S.).

Thank you. Often times it’s easier to have someone who is well versed and well practiced in the process to make things happen smoothly. I will look into hiring an attorney in Canada.

Doesn’t ne essay go more smoothly with a lawyer. Save yourself the money if you have a bit of time on your hands.

Save your money. It is fairly straightforward and the vast majority of people do it themselves.
