Hey everyone! I fucked up and submitted my application when I was out of status. My OWP got denied but they will continue the sponsorship process. When I call in it says they are still processing my background check. I received AOR on January 7. Is it normal for my background check to take that long or am I fucked?

We got AOR Jan 10th and they are still processing our background check as well. And I've spoken to a few other forum members who say the same thing so I think it's normal.

I have a good record when I lived in the states but Im also originally from Mexico and moved around a lot so I was wondering if they would think that's suspicious. Excuse my language in previous post, I'm just unsure about my application because I did everything myself.
I understand. I was wondering why my husband's (applicant) background check was taking so long too so I did my research on here and was told that this is normal, that every agent has a different order of doing things where some do background checks first, others work on medicals first, etc. It doesn't necessarily mean they are spending all this time looking into your background or that there's any red flags, just that that's the stage of the application process they have worked on so far in your app. It may be related to the country you are from or have traveled to because it takes a long time to share information between countries. My husband is from the UK and oddly enough when I ordered his gcms notes the only thing it mentioned in there about background check was that they were looking into whether there were any fingerprints on record in the US for him.....random...
Hey, how do you find out you are in a background check? by calling them or you could see online
If you have linked your app to CIC account it tells you. You can call them as well, but they will just tell you the same thing
Online through linked account at the bottom beside "Background Check" it says "We are processing your background check.....". Also, when I got my GCMS notes I can see that an officer looked into biometrics/fingerprints in the USA and requested my police check, additional family background, schedule A, passport from the main file all of which are assessed when doing the background check. So far this is the only thing that has been started in regards to my application processing.
any update news for our Nov application case? i called CIC they told me there is no background check show. no medical request, no background check, r they still working on our files?
Min 20 working days (1 month) from app date to receiving in mail. Not less than tat as of we see here in forum.
I haven't heard of any updates or requests from Sept/Oct/November applicants. However, an August applicant told me that they got a "Decision Made" update end of April. So that means they are still working on applications in general but very very slowly and not sure if they are working on ours as well or just older cases. I've ordered my GCMS notes which will be here end of May so I'll be curious to see if anything has been worked on during this time.
one friend told me the same that she got "passport request" in Apr, and her case was submitted in Aug,2019. we were not requested for med exam till now as she was requested 4 months after she submitted. but i believe they are processing some other part of the application.
I saw on the August thread a "Decision made" on April 17th, 2020. I am presuming part of the delays across the board could be because of the 20,000 covid-19 contingency temporary foreign workers being processed by Immigration. Prime minister statement about the employment was by mid month of March.

We have not received a medical request yet and we did not send medicals in with application. They only update I've ever seen on our application is that they started processing the background check back in March but nothing since.
