What if someone is marrying just before a week ago from the commencement of her program in canada. What if she does not have time to add his spouse name over passport??? If she is unable to add her spouse name over then can her spouse in india add her name over his passport without her.

It’s fine. You may struggle to get an SOWP for your spouse.

There is no requirement for your spouse's name to be in your passport to travel to Canada.

Thanks for the reply, but can she update her passport in Canada after reaching there and update here marriage status in her personal identity records. I see India has their embassy in Ottawa.

This way she will not get in trouble while applying for the spousal open work permit.

Is that right ?

She won't get in trouble. Canada doesn't care if her passport has her spouse's name or not.
