Hi ,

I just received my CoPR on Jun 12 , the visa will expire in Aug 27.
Am a NBPNP applicant. My city mentioned on CoRP is Saint John , NB.
Am trying to cut costs in the soft landing visit since the flights are 25% higher to NB.
Can I make a soft landing for 1 week in Montreal without visiting NB ? I understand that I have to live in NB when I permanently move to Canada.
Will the officer refuse my entry since I don't have flights to NB ?
The address of my PR card would be in Montreal , one of my friends will collect it and then courier it to me .

Thanks for sharing your experience . Good luck all.

Others can comment as well but a couple of things where your plan may be doomed to fail

1)as a PNP applicant not having an onward ticket will probably be a red flag to CBSA at Montreal so is possible they will refuse your landing and may only allow you to enter as a visitor.

2) having your card mailed to an address in Montreal makes (1) even more likely given that almost implies a plan to settle in Quebec even if not your intention. Quebec has very specific immigration requirements so anyone who has not followed those requirements gets extra scrutiny.

Having said above there is always a chance you maybe lucky but would not necessarily bank on it.

Thanks for your reply. I have another option to mail my card to Saint John, although I prefer to be mailed to my friend in Montreal . Can I buy tickets at the airport to anywhere to NB if things get complicated? , do you think that will work ?

Hi MikeNage123,

Currently during the COVID emergency the government has restricted international arrivals to 4 airports only, Montreal,Toronto,Calgary and Vancouver. So if you are planning on travel whilst this order is in place then you would have to complete immigration at one of those airports before connecting to Moncton
