Hello everyone,

So my spouse and I have had previous visa refusals.

Several years ago (2014/15) I applied for a study permit and was refused. I know now that my application was ill advised and tbh after the refusal I continued on with life in my home country.

2 years ago we had some extra cash and wanted to go on a vacation. I thought Canada would be good and lo and behold we were both refused.
I believe the reasons were financial and economic opportunities in home country. We applied with our then 1 year old.

My husband would like to reapply. I am hesitant because while i would love to visit i have plans here. Since that application the following things have changed for us both...

Please note we have no family there only a friend on work permit.

Me
I have applied for paid study leave from work. Which before Covid-19 was close to being approved ( why I am not interested in visiting right now)
Have had in increased wages.

My husband

Now works on a cruise, on his second contract and has travelled as a result to Europe and the US

If we applied now we would apply without the kids.

Question would it be better for him to apply alone or for us to apply together without the kids?

Thanks. Will answer any questions you have.

Please stay safe out there. Obviously these questions are not for immediate application with all that is going on right now.

If you considering only your husband applying this doesn’t sound like you are actually planning on going on holiday together. where you are from makes a big difference on whether you may be accepted. You husband’s travel will be viewed as travel related to his employment and not the same as personal tourism.

We are from Jamaica. And because I don't necessarily feel up to the task of applying and then possibly being turned down again, I was wondering if he would have a good enough profile to apply on his own without me and the kids?

He may get approved because the rest of his family will not accompany him. One person getting approved won’t mean the others will be approved after that.

I am also not enthused to apply because my visit would be just that a visit, and if i applied without my kids I am not going anywhere. A part of the lure for me in visiting Canada is to take them to museums, aquariums and zoos. Things we dont have in my home country. Looking through here after our refusal, I saw where applying without kids is recommended as a tie to your country.

Would honestly suggest with at least one trip to the US. US tends to give out visas easier and then you’ll have some travel history as a couple or family. They also have similar activities that you are looking for.

Realising I misread this. Thank you for your assistance. Since I don't want to go I will let him apply alone.
