HI all

This is Ravi, I am filling up our citizenship applications and have couple of questions.

I landed as PR in 2 Mar 2007 and went back home after 3 days. I came back in 20 Oct 2009. so my eligibility period is from 2 Mar 2007 to 1 Mar 2012? or can I choose the most recent 5 years?

TIA
Ravi

You can only claim the 5 years before the application date so if applying today only back to April 2015. Anything before that is not relevant. Also all days must be physical days in Canada, minimum 3 years out of the 5 years back from application date, the date you sign the application

Yes days only count if you were physically present in Canada. But part days count as full days.

Can he sign the application form with date 1 Mar 2012?

is there any rule that prohibits people from mailing the form 8 years after it was signed?

To be clear, grant citizenship applications dated more than ninety days prior to their receipt by IRCC are considered staledated and not processed.

See:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/canadian-citizenship/admininistration/general-file-processing/accepting-applications.html

"Where the date on an application is more than three months old (90 calendar days) when received (staledated) . . . the application will be treated as if it is unsigned."
