Hi All,

My parents were supposed to land in Canada on April 6, 2020. Their COPR is expiring on April 16, 2020. Because of the lockdown situation in India, they are unable to travel. I would like to know if anyone else is in similar situation and has applied for COPR extension.
I filled out IRCC web form and got a standard email back saying - "We have forwarded the information you provided to the responsible office for their consideration.". I don't know if they will extend the COPR validity or what's going to be the procedure.
Is anybody else in the same situation? If yes, can you please share the details here. I don't want to start the whole immigration process back again.

Regards,
Gagan

Nobody has received any concrete information since the government hasn’t figured out what they are going to do yet. It is such a fluid information you are just supposed to contact them and they’ll figure out the extension when covid 19 gets under control and the world starts functioning again.

We are in similar situation COPR expire on May 8 and obviously traveling is near impossible now. It's good that approved Permanent Residents are now exempt from the travel ban, however, I still don't think this was CIC best decision as when you land you HAVE to isolate for 14 days and finding a job would be hardly possible if at all.
I tried to contact CIC office in London regarding this situation and in their email they said "Please be advised that you will not be penalized if you are unable to travel within the validity of your documents." Any thoughts on what this would mean?

They will extend landing dates.
What is the process of extending the COPR? I'm the daughter, Canadian citizen. My parents got approved and got the COPR, dad principal applicant, mom being the dependent. So I submit the webform, and then what happens? They will simply extend the COPR in their system or they would ask my parent to resubmit the passports and resend an email for the COPR, and return the passport with new stamps? Has anyone successfully done this, extended to a longer period, if yes how long is the extension basically?

My parents' COPR expires by July 1st week and I am really not comfortable letting them travel just for the same of becoming a PR cuz it would put their life at risk. I wonder if IRCC would consider extending the dates automatically for at least another 6 months. Please help!

You need to send web form and explain reasons why you can’t travel. Right now that’s all you can do and wait for further instructions.

As above just follow the process and send in a web form if not already done to register not able to travel. It makes little sense at the moment for IRCC to issue specific extensions given nobody has any idea when travel will be possible again. They could issue 3 months now and come 3 months there is still a lockdown so what are they to do keep issuing new extensions for the thousands of COPRs due in next 3-6 months versus once only when the situation has to a degree normalised and governments consider travel is safe. As has been mentioned before on here people still need to keep in mind once the latter has been reached that there may be different attititude to not being inclined to travel, nobody of course knows the answer to that

Wouldn’t assume that quarantine will be going away for quite so,e time and yes the economy will be rough. Once landing is available you have the option of a short landing. Many people have landed and left the same day which may be a way to get around the quarantine.

Hi. Have you received any further Instruction from IRCC after the web form submit?

Do they require PCC & Medical after it?

what is the procedure to follow to extending COPR after web form submit?

People are being given 3 months after their COPR expiry date. When does their COPR expire?

Hi All,

I am in a similar situation, my mum was to travel in April2020 her CORP expires on20June,2020 but still not sure if international flights will be in operation from India.

we are planning to write to CIC via web form for an extension, but wondering if they will request to redo medicals since it would not be pratical to redo medicals in these Covid-19 days.

any one who has received any information from CIC please share.

Thanks.

do they ask to do PCC and Medicals again ?
No they have not asked for people to redo medicals. If extensions continue past the 3 month mark it becomes more probable that a medical will be required. Extensions are issued after COPR expires. May take a few weeks after COPR expiry and extension request.
