For Indians, date to travel is after 14th April when expected lockdown will be over. Lets hope things get better by then. Not sure if even everything goes fine will they light the international flight ban on 14th April or allow few international flights?

Yes, i was wrong with my prediction of exemption date in mid april. Let's wait for official announcement. The link only shows update in a warning note.

I am obviously very happy about the announcement, and i am grateful for it.

But i'm also very pensive about the implications of travelling at this time because of the risks.

I do wonder now, how IRCC will react in regard to granting extensions if they can claim you had over a month to land before your COPR expired due to the exemption, but decided not.

Will they now say you should have traveled if i were to request an extension?

What happened to Ryan is a wake up call for me. If sharing a flight can get you infected as you can imagine being in a confined space for a prolonged time would, i'm just thinking about the risks involved more and more.

I raised a web form requesting extension of PRV as my COPR is expiring on 29th April but the reply that I got from IRCC was very general, no specific clarification was given. After the today's announcement, are they contemplating on not providing any provision of extension???

I raised the web form on 23rd March and yesterday got the reply. I mentioned about the lockdown and my inability to travel with family amid COVID-19 situation as it is unsafe to travel. I wrote a detailed mail but got a very general reply. I was expecting them to provide me with the further process to apply for an extension.

I got the following reply in which giving extension was mentioned from the point of view of those who may take time to complete next step of their ongoing process like medical and passport submission. Please read the reply below:

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).



The resumption of services at the Visa Application Centres, or travel restrictions are subject to authorization from local government authorities.



In the meantime, individuals who have applied for a visitor visa, a work permit, a study permit or for permanent residence, but cannot complete the next steps in the process on time due to coronavirus (COVID‑19) situation in your country of residence, your application will not have their application refused solely on the basis of not completing these requests. More time (extensions) will automatically be provided to applicants in these situations.

Examples of the next steps include:

· submitting passport or supporting documents, such as a police certificate

· completing an immigration medical examination

Hi,
MY COPR expires on 5th May and I am from India, will not be able to travel till 14th April due to travel restrictions imposed by Indian Government. Need guidance whether i should raise web form and inform IRCC about the same now or should i do it after 14th April depending upon the situation

I don't understand. I hope there will an announcement regarding visa extension soon. My country banned all international flights till 14th April. My visa will expire before that.

I don’t think we need to be worried. Because still there is reason why we can’t fly and we can raise this issue and I’m sure they will consider. They are the most rational country of the world!

'...on or before March 18, 2020, the date on which the first interim order came into force.' When did the first interim order come into force, March 16th?

We are in the same boat. Our COPR is expiring on 26 April. We possibly can't travel before thst.ourr existing flights have been cancelled and there are no flights for April. Plus it us extremely risky.

Please read the FAQs.they have themselves written that the people who are exempted shouldn't rush to travel immediately because of their own restrictions and also because of reduced international flight traffic.so guys please read that

My COPR is expiring on 18th May 2020. My flight was already booked for 08th April 2020, Delhi-London London-Toronto(15th April 2020) with layover at London for 7 days. As per the current situation in Europe/UK, I don’t want to stay in London even for one day. Is there any hope if I will extend my ticket for the second week of May 2020 with the same airline (British) but with two hours layover?
Please suggest.
