Ray of Hope - 140th Draw

My bet is that EE will continue for 2-3 draws, probably with a reduced number of ITAs, something in the range of 2500-3200.
After that, if the crisis persist, IELTS and other exams continue to be interrupted, then I foresee a complete stop of the EE program.

Not because Canada cannot receive these immigrants (they can, and I'll explain why I believe that below), but because it's not Canada's best interest to invite candidates below 450, if they can simply wait 2-3 months for the crisis to slow down, and then continue to have a influx of more capable and skilled candidates. More than ever, Canada will need highly skilled people to rebuild businesses.

I've been hearing a lot in this forum about that idea that Canada will stop immigration because they will be in recession (well, the entire world will be, for sure).
Yet, what people might be missing here is the fact that Canada does not invite immigrants to sustain economical growth *today*. They are totally fine right now. The country will rely on immigrants to sustain economical growth 20 years from now, because Canadians, per se, are nor having kids.
Moreover, if they are indeed in recession, they will need more than ever a positive influx of money in the country. Consider that after that crisis is over, the average Canadian will probably have had run out of savings. The economy will need people with money in their pockets to help sustain the Canadian market during the recovery period. I'm not saying immigrants will recover the economy, but they might provide the minimum fuel necessary to sustain business such as Canadian Tire, IKEA, local car dealers, etc to avoid them to file for bankruptcy. Because during the recession period, be sure most Canadians won't buy a new car or replace their furniture. Newcomers will.

Every immigrant from the FSW program brings to Canada a lot of savings from their countries. Most of them sell their car(s), houses, furnitures (on top of the minimum required fund). That will help inject dollars in the Canadian economy, to sustain the survival of retail, insurance and manufacturing sectors, generating jobs.

Even more importantly, when we think about economical recovery, the sector that will probably recover the fastest will be IT, simply because they're less dependant on local demands, but instead, global ones. And we know that IT is among the ones (if not the most) popular NOC codes in the EE program.

You do not get it right.
I understand where you're coming from. But the system (which all parties support by the way, not just Trudeau's), is set up for maximum economic benefit, as I mentioned before. I get that it's frustrating, but there are reasons that it works the way that it does. The country's best interests aren't in each of us, they're in itself. That's the way every country works. As individuals, we get to decide where we want to try and emigrate to, but those countries are under no obligation to take us. We should be grateful for any opportunity we receive. And like you said, if we can't get into one, we need to try another.

because it's not Canada's best interest to invite candidates below 450, if they can simply wait 2-3 months for the crisis to slow down, and then continue to have a influx of more capable and skilled candidates. More than ever, Canada will need highly skilled people to rebuild businesses.
Interesting perspective. I certainly hope Canada's economy stays strong during the COVID madness. It's been doing really well, with low unemployment levels, and a significant amount of business innovation across industries. And I would want to go and thrive, doing what I studied for, not being in constant survival mode. I do agree with you that their pausing the system is more likely. Or at least, it would surprise me far less if they did that, to protect receiving only higher ranking people for ITAs, compared to continuing and letting lower-scoring people in. From what I have seen, they have every interest in maintaining the levels, and scores, that have been quite stable since 2015. Just hoping the next draw takes place on the 25th.

Hmm... hasn't been that low in a few months. See here. Depends on intake numbers, but they seem quite consistent these days.
I`ll probably ask for a review on my IELTS, if i get 0.5 on speaking i could jump for 471 and would make more comfortable. But who knows what is coming right?

Also, i think maybe a lot of people my be rethinking about immigration with all the corona virus and economical crises.

Getting up to 471 would be nice, yeah. Can your IELTS go down or only up with a review?

what about 470 ?
If you click the link and scroll down the tables, you'll see how common/close that is.

Good point. This could definitely be a factor for those who's work/income is affected by the pandemic. Those who aren't currently earning may end up dipping in to savings and end up reconsidering the timing of their move to Canada. Only CEC applicants will be unaffected, unless IRCC reduces the Funds Requirements for other streams, which seems unlikely.

This is going too far. I don’t think score will come below 470 any time soon. I don’t understand why people are having so high hope even though I am at 469, I am still thinking about increasing my ielts score.
I think that dude is only being sarcastic

If you have the documents to prove you have 2 years and the associated responsibilities for that NOC then sounds fine to me.

Bare in mind 2 years experience (as opposed to 1) doesn't add any additional points to your CRS unless it's Canadian Experience. For foreign experience, 1 year and 2 years are worth the same points.

I believe FSW applicants get extra points for 2 years vs 1 year though.

I think you need at least 1 year experience in a single organization to claim points . However, wait for more info here before you conclude
