I applied for work permit extension while waiting for my ainp answer and was put in an implied status and was able continue working while waiting for an answer. But I have received my decision yesterday and was denied due to the work permit expiry. Can somebody explain to me on what grounds my application was denied because the officer even spoke with my employer before bringing a decision confirming that I indeed was working legally while being on implied status

Just because you applied for an extension, leaving you with implied status, doesn't mean you are entitled to that extension. What sort of work permit were you on before?

I’m sorry I wasn’t clear, I was on Iec open vis permit
That makes sense. They are not extendable and therefore that is the reason why you were denied.

no you can't... best option is to use this visa once and then apply new trv after returns then there are good chances you get multiple entry visa till the validity of your passport
