Folks,

What does a 'certified copy' refer to? I recently received my checklist and one of the docs that i have to submit is a 'certified copy of my degree cert' Please advise if i can submit my degree transcript issued by my university, for a certified copy asked?. Is a certified copy of my degree cert and an offcial transcript of my degree cert issued by my university are one and the same?

Here is what the instructions says,
  • the certified copy format indicates that the copy of the document you are submitting must be certified as true to the original either by the issuer of the document or by a recognized authority in the country or territory that issued the document. To find out which authorities are authorized by the Ministry to certify a document conforming, you must refer to the List of recognized authorities to certify documents conforming;
  • all pages of the copy of the documents provided must be certified as true by a recognized authority;
  • electronic documents must also be certified as true to the original by a recognized authority;
  • if a document, including an original, does not have an original seal or signature or if it includes an electronic signature, you must have it certified as true by a recognized authority
This is urgent...Please advise asap.

Thanks!
Sundar

What's the problem ? The copy must be certified by a recognized authority.

What's your country ?

Normally you can go to the embassy or the consulate of your country for this

Im trying to understand how in India degree certificates are certified by universities? when i checked in my univ. all they know is just transcript.

Has anyone submitted certified copy by a notary?

You bring your original diploma and they make a copy, they put some stamps, the person write his name and sign... Not complicated

I don't understand what these people doing. They send invitations or doc requests without have processed most of the existing cases. What are they trying to do, what is their goal? To cancel again our applications?

No its not the same.

You should submit the below two docs.

1. Official Transcript should be original from the university.
2. Degree certificate should be a color photostat of your degree certificate and then certified by a notary in India.

In India, a notary is a recognized authority. So just go to a notary in India along with the original certificate and ask the notary to certify the photostat. When the notary certifies it make sure it has the following and his seal should be clear and legible.

1. Notary name , Seal , Address
2. These words "This is a certified true copy of the original document <document name> "
3. Everything should have equivalent text in English or French.
If not in English (even the notary seal) it has be translated and attested by translation agencies in Canada.
