Hello Friends,
I had given sputum smear test and sputum culture test, smear result came out after one week which is negative, and bow waiting for culture results.
1. My query is how long exactly they will announce result, they gave 08 weeks time which is too long, should i email to IOM to speed up process?
2. I had gone thru
# skin test, # mtb and blood test for t.b all are negative... Should i share these test reports with IRCC on webform, its feasible...?
Pls response
Hi friend.

I'm afraid the sputum test result requires 6-8 weeks to be issued, due to medical reasons (it simply takes time), so contacting IOM can hardly help to speed up the process. There's nothing they can do about the time the bacteria needs to grow.

I'm waiting here too...

Hi Team,

I have a scar in my lung and haven't been diagnosed with TB in my medical history. I have an X-ray, CT scan and sputum test from November 2019 which i had taken since i was applying for a job in UAE. Also, i have a letter from a lung specialist explaining the same that i am fit and don't have anything related to TB. Can thise report help me to make the panel physician believe that there isn't anything related to TB and will this be acceptable by CIC. I am about to give my medical in couple of days from now.

Appreciate a response, thanks in advance!

How much of sputum did you guys give? I only produced a bit and the rest are saliva because it's hard to force myself to cough especially with empty stomach in the morning.Do you think its okay? Tomorrow is my last day to collect.

Did the medical staff give you instructions on how to cough "properly"? Seems like they have a special method on how to make yourself cough and produce sputum even if you don't have it a lot. You start by taking a deep breath, hold it for 3 seconds and then like forcefully expel the air. Something like that.
Honestly, it wasn't really much help in my case either, but you can try it. I think I produced very little of sputum as well... But seems like they were quite satisfied, the laboratory was able to produce preliminary results with what they got from me, hehe. Waiting for the final one, 6 weeks of waiting already done.

If you have copies of your imaging I would bring them with you. If it is from a reputable place they may compare the previous x-rays. If there is no change they may agree to skip the TB test. Normally you can get the clinic or hospital to put the x-ray or CT on a flash drive or on a CD. Sometimes they give you the films. All depends if they are all digital.

Hi guys!

Didn't know I'll end up with abnormal x-ray, but so life goes :)

It was completely out of the blue for me. No one has ever had TB in my family and I have no signs of it. But seems like my PP has different opinion. Anyway, I was sent to do sputum 3 times. My PP is always on the phone, he constantly informs me of the analysis updates. Preliminary result is negative, now I have to wait for 6 weeks or so, as usual.

Really hope everything will turned out fine. Thank you for this tread, it gives a lot of hope and courage. Thanks to dhillion0001 for the detailed info.

For the records:
PNP Outland
Upfront Medical: January 27
Sputum tests: January 28-30
Preliminary results: Confirmed negative on February 4
AOR: February 5

Will keep you posted.
OK, my update about this.
Today my PP called, announced sputum test results. Apparently 6 weeks have passed, and the result is negative! Yay. I was almost sure it will be this way, but anyway... I was worried.
And I stil am, because I have to do re X-ray on April 28. So my med won't be passed until then. Have to wait again. But I really hope the worst part is over.

Timeline update:
PNP Outland
Upfront Medical: January 27
Sputum tests: January 28-30
Confirmed negative: March 10
Re X-Ray: scheduled for April 28
AOR: February 5

Maybe it depends on where you’re from or your hospital? I’m from the Philippines, they just told me that if they don’t call me before my sputum culture which is about to end this coming thursday, then i should just come back on march 13 for my re xray. They repeat the xray for canada, australia, and new zealand if im not mistaken. But for countries like the US after the 2 month waiting time they just pass their medical apparently.. i hope everything turns out well for you my friend! The waiting sucks but just take one day at a time ✌
How are you doing there, friend? Did they call you with your results, or you're just going to do re X-ray this Friday?

The medical gets put on hold until the TB results are back. It takes a long time for cultures to grow in sputum. This is a very common situation. It just means there will be a 2 month delay.

No CIC will be aware. They asked for the TB testing. Deadline was really for the initial screening.

Not 100% sure. Would plan for sponsorship to likely take a bit more than a year but it is very hard to estimate these things. TB testing is very common in India. If you have any irregularity in your lung they can’t tell if it is old or new if you don’t have previous imaging with the same irregularity. Your wife will be ask to repeat the x-ray as well to compare. If the irregularity is gone or looks the same it is fine. Canada has a very low level of TB. It is almost always limited to refugees, homeless people and unfortunately people living in reserves due to overcrowding. Canada wants to avoid TB being found In Canada because it has become drug resistant in many places and it can be long and hard to treat.
