My wife is planning for Sept 2020 intake in Canada for a 2 year program. She has received letter of acceptance as well. I am a bit confused regarding the SOWP process. Can someone please guide me with the below questions?
1. Can I apply for a spouse open work permit for me at the same time when my wife apply for her student visa or
should I wait for her to fly to Canada, get enrolled in the program and then apply for SOWP after 2-3 months of her getting enrolled?
2. Does it has any impact (good or bad) on the SOWP application if the person applying for SOWP in already in Canada on Tourist Visa? If yes, then I am planning to fly on tourist visa along with my wife and then apply for SOWP?
Please guide me with above questions and your recommendations as well. Thanks in Advance!

My wife is a Canadian and I applied for inbound PR Immigration under Spousal Sponsorship along with an Open Work Permit (OWP) application for myself to able to work during the process time and stay legal in the country. I have mailed all completed documents that were received in the Mississauga, Ontario Center in Dec 9, 2019 and they sent me application number in Feb 9, 2020 (8 weeks).
Now I am wondering is the processing time for my PR & OWP starts from the the date my application was received to them in December 2019 or from the time I received an application number from them in February 2020.
Also how long usually they take to approve and issue OWP as I am currently on implied status and not able to work and this is depressing time for me.

And do you have any idea when someone is having visitor visa status and then applied on SOWP , it will take same time like 90-100 days

I applied for SOWP in February 17, paper based. I linked my application online, there it showed that my Medical is Passed on Feb 21. Biometrics completed. I already have application number online, with background check in progress.
But I have not received AOR or biometrics completion letter on my email. Is my application already in progress since I already have application number?
