We were in the same position. When we completed my husbands medical, I sent a letter to the VO along with a copy of my text messages with the mother who refused to have her child do the medical and the receipt confirming we completed my husbands medical. A few months later they sent me their version of the statutory declaration. We had to sign their form confirming we understood we could never sponsor the child in the future.
Oh we are in the same situation exept that my husband do not have any contact with the mother and the child. We send the declaration that we will not have his son examined/sponsor on dec 30 ( they ask for medical for his son in the AIP that we received dec 20 ). So your saying it can take FEW months before receiving the letter from IRCC that we'll have to sign ? How many months in your case ?

I think our reprensent make a big mistake here. In august IRCC asked us to add his son in the IMM0008 even if he never met him and have any contat with him ( the reason why we did not add the child in the demand was well explained in the affidavit ). So Our representant did it but I think that we should have send in the same time the statutory declaration. Instead they wait that IRCC ask for the medical for the child so we lost a lot of time here !!
Better , we should have added his child from the start and send the declaration when we send the application in MARCH 2018.

I just realized that we should never take representant ! It's a big law firm in immigration that cost us a lot of money and we put all our trust in them becaus we knew NOTHING about immigration. But I see here that their mistakes cost us a lot of time.

My wife recently completed medicals and got a confirmation letter, do we need to upload this letter anywhere? The status on profile shows 'Your action is required'

Thanks

Hello, guys! I gave biometrics on 04.02.2020 and medical on 13.02.2020. My medical was accepted on 19.02.2020 but I haven't received any confirmations of my biometrics. on my account it has the information when I gave biometrics and till when it's valid but on that status part, it asks me to give biometrics still. documents haven't moved to VO yet. Do you think that's normal? I'm worrying already

It should update later. Main thing is it says till when it's valid. Meaning they got the bio metrics.

Hey all - I have a few questions about some of the forms on the General Application Form (IMM 0008)-

1. There is a spot asking for a national Identity document. I'm assuming that the "Social Security Number/Card" is what they are looking for in the case of U.S. citizens. The field, however, has an issue date and an expiration date. What are they asking for, here? Are they asking for when the document was issued, or when the social security number itself was issued? Social Security Cards are kind of similar to Social Insurance Cards in Canada, where they aren't really date-oriented documents, and you get the number for life, effectively. Social Security Cards have a date stamp on them. Should I use that, or should I leave the date blank, or should I try and figure out when my wife's social security card was issued (which doesn't feel super practical).

2. When they ask about education history on the General Application and the Schedule A background information, do they care about years *attended* or years *completed*? My wife goes to school, and is in her 3rd year (junior), but has been attending for longer than that due to having to work. Should I just put her academic years in there, or the total number of years she's attended? (The same question applies to me. I got a bachelor's degree, but it took longer than 4 years. Would I just put "4" years to signify that I completed my undergrad?)

3. The General Application asks about "intended occupation." My wife is currently attending university, majoring in Psychology. The best that we can come up with is "Case Manager," but we aren't really sure as she may feel differently once she graduates. Should we go with that answer? Can we put "unknown" in that field?

Let me know. Thanks!

1. N/A. The US doesn't issue national identity documents.

2. Doesn't matter.

3. Doesn't matter. She can pick whatever she wants. It doesn't mean she has to actually do that job.

What @canuck_in_uk replied is true, the US doesn't issue National Identity documents per se.

I had the same question as you regarding this issue, and did a little research online before completing my PR application. A US driver's license is considered the closest thing to a National Identity Document, so I entered my DL information there. It also fulfills the issue date and expiration date fields. I don't know if they will overlook this since I'm a US citizen, but my paperwork wasn't returned and I haven't been questioned over it. So it is up to you which way you want to proceed on this issue. Obviously if the PA doesn't have a DL, this is a non-issue. If they have a state-issued ID card instead, this could probably work too.

Hi,

Firstly, let me thank all of you for the great posts and support. This forum has helped a lot, and I hope my questions will help others as well!

I have sponsored my wife who is residing in IRAN, and is holding an Iranian passport. Our case was forwarded to ANKRA, Turkey for processing shortly after our application was submitted.

The application status is currently showing (80% complete with 11 weeks left):
  • Application received: May 13 2019
  • Medical Completed: July 16, 2019
  • Biometrics Completed: November 6, 2019

I'm looking for some help on the following questions(feel free to answer whatever you can):
  1. I understand that my spouse will have to enter Canada before her 1-year medical expires (July 16th 2020),
    1. What happens if the application is not complete until after July 16th 2020? ex. Do they give you 1-2 months to enter Canada, etc.
    2. Also, upon arrival to Canada, what are the minimum number of days the spouse need to actually remain in the country? I ask because she has a final exam that she might need to return for back for a few days
  2. My understand is that the final step is to send in her passport to VAC (and they will send it to Ottawa for an entry stamp). I have not received this letter yet. Can the passport/photos/documents be sent to any VAC in any country? Or in my case does it need to be in Ankra, Turkey since that is where they are doing the processing
  3. Has anyone sponsored their wife/husband through the Ankara, Turkey processing center started their application after May 2019 and received a completion already?

Thank you!

-B

1. Either the medical will be extended or a new one will be requested.

2. There is no minimum.

2. It doesn't go to Ottawa. It goes to the VO processing the app, Ankra. I believe you have to mail to that country.

Hi Guys, I got DM from NDVO on Feb 20th and got PPR today. Just a quick question, in the PPR email sent to me, there is no information about my accompanying dependent child. There is no request for the childs passport. Would I be able to submit my childs passport along with the passport request that I got now? or should I request NDVO for my childs passport request seperately?

Hi I applied for my husband a year ago and we both live in iran (I am a canadian citizen though) and my application just has :
1-your application was received April 24, 2019.
and that's it. still no medical or biometrics and it's been 10 months now. is that normal? and I went through a lawyer and the lawyer says when she calls they say its in process but that's it.
Just want to know if it's normal for 10 months and no medical or biometrics.

Hi guys .
we need advice here.
Trough our MP we had an update with more details about our application. So here's a quick resume

-your application have been receive march 8 2018
-The initial assessment to ensure that the sponsor meets all of the sponsorship criteria was finalized on August 8, 2019.
-The responsible office is currently reviewing the application and the documents provided, to determine whether the sponsored person (the applicant) meets the eligibility criteria,
the applicant’s assessment is underway.
-The results of medical exams have expired for ******** ( Principal applicant )
-The results of medical exams have not yet been received for ***** however the statutory declaration has been received. ( his son that he never met and have no contact with the mother )
-Crime checks are currently valid.
-Security checks have not yet been initiated.
-The Quebec Selection Certificate has been received and added to the file.
-Since the request requires additional checks, there are no specific processing times to finalize it. Please be assured that every effort is made to ensure that it is treated effectively.

So here are my questions.

What can we do about the expired medical ? We dont wait for them to ask and go for another ? We wait for them to ask ? We receive the medical resquest for his son IN the AIP. I think if they wanted another certificate they would have asked for it at the same time?

Security check are not started... is that a long process ? When are they usully start it ? at the end ?? When iligility is done ?

They are talking about requires additional checks. As they get to the permanent residence treatment I imagine they are talking about the statuary declaration about his son that we send 30 dec ?

Thanks so much in advance for your help
