Sponsor spouse- Court marriage/ against traditions plz Help

I will really appreciate any advice or Suggestion in my case.

I am a permanent resident here and my spouse is on work permit. we love each other and we are in relationship from 2 and half years. We both want to get married but the problem is that; We are gonna have love marriage. We are from India and both have different religions. because of the different religions our parents are not accepting our relation and we cant get traditional marriage in India. our parents are not supporting us. We want to get court marriage done. but as i read on the sponsorship application we need wedding pics.

I was concerned about
1. Are the wedding pics must?
2. Can i give the same explanation in my application?
3. Is going against parents gonna have negative effect on sponsorship? :-[

Anyone with similar experience or knowledge on this concern, please help me. I am really stressed since i don't wanna loose my partner only because of traditions. :-[

You don't need to get married to apply,
your situation fits common law,
you have been living together for more than enough time to apply
as common law and the only thing that you need is to prove that
you have been living together for that time,
Minimum time is one year, you have much more than that.

Many people do not get a traditional marriage for different reasons.

you may fall under that category.
Just focus in proving your common law relation.

Affidavits from friends that know your relation are good help,
receipts showing the same address, rent lease, etc. etc. etc.

We did not have an actual wedding in a wedding gown and tuxedo. We just had a small ceremony at home with my parents (his parents are not in the country). Then a simple 'banquet' with close family friends at a restaurant. Luckily we did take a group photo, but I wasn't even dressed up for it.

No it's not enough to just provide the marriage certificate. The fact that you weren't dressed up however, is not an issue. You can wear whatever you like to your own wedding!! You need to show pictures of the celebration or get together that you had and if you aren't able to show that you celebrated your marriage in some way, then an explanation of why.
We only had a small gathering at a restaurant too, but we had photo's of it and a paragraph about why others couldn't make it.

I am in Saskatchewan and here we need to live together for 2 years. Sorry i did not mention you clearly as we were living together in 2013 to june 14. then my spouse moved to BC for a job opportunity. and now she is back in Saskatchewan from January of this year. Thanks

Actually for immigration it's 365 days so 1 year. That's across Canada. It doesn't go by what province you live in. CIC only needs the one year

If you are married, you must apply as married, not common-law.

I believe the Delhi VO is one that looks for traditional weddings, so may have to explain things in much more detail, and provide proof of a genuine relationship. Check out the Delhi threads and see if there are others in your situation.

For immigration you only need to have lived together for one year to be common law. For income tax as well.
The visa officers in India do expect to see a lavish traditional wedding, but you can't do that because of the religious differences, so you can get married here nontraditionally. Just make it look special, take pictures, try to have someone from your families there as well as friends. Then explain in detail that it is a love match, why your parents don't approve but you hope to win them over, why you didn't have a traditional wedding. And increase the amount of evidence you send that your relationship is genuine.

My name is mandeep . I want to tell you my situation in short way . Me and my wife we are in relationship from last 3 years in out college we started it and she went to canada after completing her graduation and i could not go due to some reason but we were in contact with each other so we decided to get court marriage . We done it .she came for 20 days and we done court marriage and she went back and than i applied for tourist visa but i did not get ot due to fianacial and purpose of visit .
We have a problem of intercast how i could appky and which visa i can apply . How many positive points i have to get a visa

We submitted application with only court marriage photos --> side note : do have enough people in your court marriage so that you can genuinely show that there were people in your marriage ( even if it was a simple court one )
I later got to know from a FB group that a girl who is in India and her husband is PR here got just court marriage done in Sept, they submitted app in Oct, got PR approved in December itself , while we're still waiting for PR.

SO EVERY CASE IS DIFFERENT. DO NOT GO ACCORDING TO GENERALIZED STATEMENTS ON FORUM OR FB.

I would say do not go for common law as for that you need minimum 1 yr co habitation, etc etc.. which will add to your documents list. Just my view.

give additional supporting documents like : chats, photos, social media proof and a very good letter stating your reason. Get that letter reviewed with 2-3 people you know and ask them : do you think from our letter that our marriage seems genuine ? untill all of those 2-3 people don't get completely satisfied, keep fine tuning the letter and add details / shorten it up accordingly.

actually, I did talk to the lady whos PR got approved. I had a detailed conversation with her as well.

3 month sponsorship approvals don’t happen. Maybe closer to 6 months if a spouse is from one of the 5 Eyes and there are no red flags. An Indian citizen and a PR in Canada would not get approved in December if the submitted their application in October. Maybe they meant that the sponsor was approved as eligible to sponsor a spouse.

The girl received the PPR in 3 months is what I meant. She applied in Oct and in Jan she received PPR. so maybe 3.5 months at max.
