Responsibility/ Duty letter from office.

Hi All ,

I have submitted my Express Entry application in November 2019. After going through the forum i have a following query regarding the Duty Letter or Key responsibility letter issued by the office. My case is as follows:

I have been working in Microsoft for last 9 and a half year. My designations have been as following:

Software Engineer--> Senior Software Engineer--> Principle Software Engineer.

In the responsibility letter or Duty Letter which i got from Microsoft, they have mentioned all the three positions along with the dates i have spent on that designation.

However after this they have just mentioned that

" As a Principal Software Engineer my work responsibilities are as following:
a) xxxxxx
b) xxxxxx

Will this letter be sufficient for proving my Duty and Responsibility ? My current designation is Principal Software Engineer only.

From what I read on IRCC website and what employers wrote, reference letters all include:

• Company logo and contact info, HR signature;
• List of all the positions held there, by periods of time, number of weekly hours plus annual salary;
• Duties: [excerpt from the most similar NOC code reference and according to my duties at this company].

If your duties strongly match the activities listed under the claimed NOC code, then you're good to go.

Yes my duties are matching with the NOC .

But my letter has my duties only for my current designation. Since i have worked in the same organization for last 9 years they have just issued 1 letter with my duties associated with my current designation.

is this fine ?

How long have you worked in the current designation? Also since it is microsoft highly doubt they'll ask for more documents, even if they do you'll have time then to submit prior work experience. As of now you are good to go.

Depending on how many years you claimed on your Express Entry profile, then it would depend on that.
For example, if you only claimed three years or more of experience outside of Canada and your last position lasted 3 years, then it would be coherent.
Otherwise, considering your last position did not total three years at the same position in the company, then you should definitely ask your company to include all relevant work information for that purpose.

Above all, you should state the minimum necessary information needed to match the points you claimed on your Express Entry profile.
Where you worked matters less than complete and truthful information signed by an authoritative person at the company.

Did you claim more than one year of experience outside of Canada on your Express Entry profile?

yes i have claimed more than three years. But my company is not giving me work duties separately as per the designations. They are just giving me 1 letter naming all the designations i have been on with the duty of my current designation

As long as they mention your 3 designations on the letterhead, everything will be fine

Yes my letter states a total work period of more than 9 years , it also states all the designation that i have been on along with the dates all through these 9 years. After stating this the letter says that i am currently principal software engineer as which my duties are as follows:...... "

That's my only doubt, my letter states everything , every position i held along with the dates. just that while stating the duty it says that currently as a principal software engineer i am responsible for X, Y, Z etc etc.

Will this be okay ?
